I'm not sold on the Armadillo, but at least it's not another BTR knock-off. I like the shape, but I'm not a half-track fan for high-tech.

I would really like to see some better rear views. I'm not clear how the internal volume is supposed to be set up with the tracks.

Does the turret really clear the crew compartment in the Apocalypse heavy tank?

Tango0105 Aug 2015 10:17 a.m. PST

Glad you like them boys.

Here is a video showing off the apocalypse :

And yes, it can transit all the way around.

As for the Armadillo, the troop compartment occupies where the six squares are up top.

I have to say, the Apocalypse/Nemesis/Armadillo group is really nice – there's a coherence to the design aesthetic which is recognisably SF without being a) outlandish, b) 'inspired by' (ie. copied from) popular media or c) MOAR SKULLZ.

When is the Armadillo likely to be available for sale?

Thanks!

The package was shipped to me, so I'm hoping for the end of the week or next most likely.

I'm a bit of a fan of Half-Tracks, myself.

I think all of these look very nice and, of course, different which is the good part for me.

When you look at the sort of vehicles that actually exist (weirdness like Rolligons, for example YouTube link ) I just love to see stuff that's unusual.

What is wrong with Rolligons:

And so I went looking for images of military Rolligons and I find this retro-style weirdness:

Too cool for school. Mr. Harold, are you taking notes?evil grin

Those are great, what in the world is that last one?! I quite like it…

BlackWidowPilot Fezian05 Aug 2015 10:37 p.m. PST

I just came across it while doing a Google image search for Roligons. Digging deeper I discovered that it is a 6x6 combat vehicle unveiled by TMV, Ltd in 2010:

It's the TMV 6×6M SF (named appropriately enough!) reconnaissance vehicle:

Supposedly the twin Ma Deuce can be replaced by a grenade launcher. Now picture this critter perched on six wheels ala your little 4x4 recce car…evil grin

Very interesting… although I think i'd make the black part in front be an enclosed driver/passenger cabin…

Tango0106 Aug 2015 11:18 a.m. PST

Very interesting indeed!.

Thanks for share!.

Fifth pic down in that megapost – is it just me, or does that look like the armoured division of the KKK?

BlackWidowPilot Fezian09 Aug 2015 2:38 p.m. PST

That's the Tortuga armored car or lorry in fact. Apparently there were/are both two and three axle versions of this interwar menace to society:

And speaking of such off the wall interwar AFVs, here's another "Turtle Car" for your viewing enjoyment (or confusion):

I always think of that Czech Turtle Car as the perfect vehicle for Orks… all it needs is a blown engine and hefty off-road tires…evil grin
