Gringos does it again – not only in the quality of its products, but in the choice of subject matter. No "run of the mill" stuff here, but something colourful, unusual, and something others don't seem to do. Well done Ged and I certainly look forward to the photos Best Wishes davejl |

One of my favourite units. Looking forward to them. No "run of the mill" stuff here, but something colourful, unusual, and something others don't seem to do. Could I suggest some Berg lancers in their Peninsular War uniform would fit this description perfectly? |

OK, I am missing something and forgive my ignorance. I have always thought Berg lancers were just a paint job on Garde Chevaulegers and, so, easier than Vistula Legion in Spain! Is the idea the early shako or the Colpack for elites, instead of the czapka? |

Deadhead As you say, the lancer style uniform with czapska would just involve a different paint job on Vistula or Guard lancers. And I'd certainly like to have a few figures in this style of uniform. But in Spain they seem to have worn more of a chasseur style uniform with a kinski and shako (seated figure on the left of the first plate); colpacks for the elite company. I think it would be trickier to take chasseur figures and convert them into lancers: certainly beyond my limited modelling skills! I've always wanted to do a unit of them that would have figures showing the different variants of the uniform, which are shown rather nicely in the two plates below (the colours in the bottom one seem to have come out a bit more washed out than in the original). There's the potential to create a quite stunning looking unit I think. Just haven't been able to find the right figures …yet.

I see what you mean. Most of the figures above wear the Polish style Kurtka and are a paint job on Garde Lancers. The beautiful top image indeed shows the Elite in the Colpack which is very nice. I have always wanted to do the Dutch Lancers Trumpeter NCO in the same white bearskin. The Kinski coat would be very welcome indeed. Surprisingly rarely modelled. I guess everyone wants the nice lapels to paint. He could easily become a 2e Eclaireur of the Grade also…a small unit conversion I tried with mixed success last year |

Duc de Brouilly..the colour combination of amaranthe and deep grass green are enticing………..fairly crack unit as well in Espana. I have a swathe of Napoleonics in mind…watch this space!! regards Ged gringo40s.com gringo40s.blogspot.com |
