About 2 weeks back, I successfully completed a 90 day goal that I set for myself. Then I heard a radio article about a professor somewhere in New York that gives her students a project where they need to choose something to do for 100 days, and see how it changes their life, or some such. It occured to me that were I doing something like that, it would be to do "100 Days of Painting".

I contemplated this idea for a bit, and purchased a domain name for an internet log, something I'd always wanted to set up, yet had often delayed in doing such. Its name is "The Meandering GamesPoet", and can be found at …

themeanderinggamespoet.com

I've downloaded WordPress to the site, and begun its construction, yet it might not be done for a week or two, we'll see. My first entry on my site was posted two days ago, and my next entry has been posted today.

In the meantime, my "100 Days of Painting" has begun today, August 1st, 2015. During my "100 Days of Painting" effort, I'll make choices one day at a time as to what I will paint. And the idea doesn't mean that a figure will be finished every day, that's a bit too much for me to attempt with everything else I have going on, yet I do intend to paint something for 100 days in a row.

I'll keep folks posted as this develops. And for the moment, I'll save the details of the effort for posting to my website, which won't be going public until I get it further along than it currently is.

Great idea, I will follow with interest. I might shadow your idea with maybe my own 100 days of doing something that will have a result at the end.

There is at least one other person that I know of in this area that when they heard I was going to do the "100 Days of Painting", they wanted to do it at the same time that I am. When something like this is done by more than one person, it helps get through any rough moments that might occur, while helping to move forward by knowing another person is also going the same distance.

Even if a person starts tomorrow, instead of today, wanting to get in "100 Days of Painting" in a row as well, go for it! And keep us posted on how you're doing, as I will too.

It has been 10 days straight of getting in some painting, only 90 more to go!

Day 1 … 40mm AWI
2 … GW hobbits
3 … 25/28mm ship's cannon carriages
4 … Got irritated with some mold lines when putting the barrels on to the carriages, so filed the barrels down and repainted.
5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 … more paint on 40mm AWI.

Haven't gotten the website where I want it to be yet, and eventually I might just turn it on, even if there is more to do on it. Need to learn how I can get photos on to the site as well.

There is an old rule of thumb that says that to become proficient at a new skill the thousand hour rule applies. Which means that if you do something for a thousand hours you will see a noticeable improvement in that skill. So I suggest that after 100 days if nothing else you will see a definite improvement in your painting skill. Might not be life changing but……..

Day 11 to 17 has seen more paint on 40mm AWI.

I've increased the number of figures from 3 to 12, painting them a very little bit at a time, but getting in at least 30 minutes a day, typically at the end of the day when my tiredness provides only so much patience and energy. I also tend to be a slow painter, working under a magnifying glass because my aging eyes aren't the same as they once were.

However, it has been interesting digging in at the end of the day to do at least something, maybe a few facings and cuffs one day, a few more the next, the wood on their muskets another, and the barrels for a different day. I seem to sense that doing the 40mm has somehow helped keep things going, yet not sure why. Perhaps the larger surface area seems like I'm actually geting something accomplished, even though it is fewer figures, and that seems different.

At some point during the 100 day effort, I am hoping to give 15mm a try as well.

Suppose my painting will improve, and at the same time more figures will get painted than most likely might otherwise have happened, too.
