Im guessing some type of Mountain gun was popular like most Colonial armies of the day . I need whatever was most common for the field in Africa. Also does someone make it in 25mm or is there a similliar countries gun like a Krupp etc.. that the Italians may have used during this period . |

I collected some information on the Italians, but never got around to building the army. According to my notes, Bicorne Miniatures lists a 7pdr mountain gun. Other information talks about a 7 cm mountain gun. I have a photo from somewhere on the web showing re-enactors with a bronze breech loading mountain gun. Always happy to muddy the waters. Grelber |

That photo can be found on the Landships page: landships.info (under the Italian artillery page for the 65mm mountain gun). link I'll try posting it:
The cannon is usually referred to as the 75B mountain gun (75mm made from Bronze). However, when the weapon was introduced, there was an older system in place for describing these cannon and under that it was known as: 7 BR Ret. Mont. -- In that system the "7" stood for 7 cm, but that was rounded, it was actually 75mm. Adding confusion there was in the early 1900s (1902?), a 70mm mountain gun, that's pretty similar, called the 70A (A for steel). |
