Been looking on Ebay during the past couple weeks.

The starter sets have been bought up by dealers en masse and are reselling them whole and also broken up into lots.

You can now get the sealed starter set for $89.99 USD with FREE shipping. And they are selling like crazy. You can get the set of 5 Liberators for $14.99 USD. You can get the Celestant on the Dracoth for $12.99 USD.

I report this only to show that even if you are the most hardened GW protester because of their pricing, you can't deny that $89.99 USD for a 96-page book and 47 minis is a pretty darn good deal, whether you like the minis or not.

There is a great schism in GW's pricing. The starter set – if you can discipline yourself to limiting your purchases and money spent to that starter set ONLY – You can get fully into the game for less than $100. USD

I mean really, at $89.99 USD you're getting 47 minis at about $1.96 USD per miniature. And a rule book, dice, and rulers also included? That is an amazing deal.

I agree that GW totally uses their starter sets as "bait" to get you to spend the many more hundreds of dollars on additional smaller sets, individual minis, and terrain. I agree totally that GW's pricing has gone completely insane with regards to their smaller sets. No denying that 5 liberators for $50 USD is just obscenely overpriced.

But thanks to Ebay and secondary markets, you can now get new, sealed GW stuff for a fraction of the price.

Just food for thought. I'm not a GW employee, just a gamer who examines the whole truth about pricing in the gaming industry.

The starter set is a good price and if you buy two of them with a buddy you have enough to play a pretty complete game with maybe one or two more things for each side to make them more interesting.

I'll probably get another starter set by and by and pick up some of those archer guys. I already have a bunch of additional chaos stuff to add to the mix on that side.

They get you on the comeback!

Why buy thing that is AoS?

I have over 2500 Warhammer miniatures.

So I don't need to buy anything.

Nice. Glory to all who like the game. I do not. The rules and lack of points are fine with me, but the background – what dragged me into WFB 30 years ago – is now what pushes me away. I have no need for gods slugging it out in magical bubbles.

That said, it IS an acceptable, perhaps even a good price.

I picked up 40 of the chaos warrior guys for about $35 USD from a bits reseller.

I will mix them in with older marauders. A nice 8th edition horde in the making.

I hate the new Sigmarines and already printed out the rules. Reading the new fluff is like reading a gruesome autopsy report. I prefer to remember the Old World as it was.

I need nothing else. I am not sure if this scheme is really going to be very profitable for GW.

Games like Warmahordes gained popularity via people fed up with GW and looking for something else. It might not work for GW to plan on attracting customers fed up with GW.

I agree about the pricing on e-bay. I was pretty surprised to find 40 decent chaos marauders for the price of an old regiment of 16.

Does the low price indicate a lack of demand?

I sorta feel about AOS the same way as I feel about buying a salad at McDonalds.

Yes, that starter set is a good deal. But by that same argument, the everyday pricing of the minis is a terrible value. For example 10 Judicators for $100 USD vs 47 minis (including several characters) for $125 USD? Seems crazy to me.

The box sets have always been a great deal.

The Asian salad at McD is very good.

The released it a while back, discontinued and released again

Wait a minute – am I talking GW or McD ?
