We have recently released at Historicon our new initial range of 28mm Rangers and Deltas and the aim of the Kickstarter is to increase that range. This figure range is usable for any 90s operations through to early noughties think Tora Bora (Afghanistan) and the invasion of Iraq. So please drop by if that an area of interest.

These figures supports our latest supplement called Maalintii Rangers (Somali for Day of the Rangers) which is just packed with great scenarios and information which is available at skirmishsanginusa.com

I welcome these happily.

While I have always been a fan of the Gripping Beast figure line, the differing helmets and rifle butt stocks with carbine length barrels have always driven me nuts. I have over a company of them and each one has undergone surgery with a head swap for a Eureka Fritz helmet and a full length M16A2 barrel.

I know tht DDD and JC figures have done some in the past but they are rare.

Besides, I like the current Skirmish Sangin figures and look forward to see these very much. Matchin sizes, woohoo!

Hope they bring out some Somali figures.

I like the look of this but find the way you've done it pretty confusing, and the questions below are preventing me from pledging:

So at 10k we get the MG and 15k a unit of 16 Somalis? I think I would at least need to know that you will eventually come out with the MG no matter what, Otherwise the minis I get from you would basically be incomplete as I don't see any other manufacturers doing compatible figures. I wonder if it would have been a better idea to do all the Rangers and then have the Deltas as a stretch goal?

Also don't understand: are the stretch goals add-ons or are the figures free if the goals are achieved?

If I buy multiple fire team deal, am I basically getting doubles, triples or even quadruples of the same fire team?

Finally, for those who don't already play the game, how many fire teams do I need to play per player? If I buy four fire teams is that a two player game? A four player game? Who plays the Somalis?

axabrax,

Remember that the prices are all in NZD except the total amount pledged. This means that they are only about 700 USD from getting the last Rangers packs. There are people that want the Delta guys now and the Sangin crew have already produced some Delta operators already so they need to supplement their range.

I'm pretty sure the stretch goals are at an additional price as once you pledge a certain level you get access to the stretch goals.

I know that they currently have two packs of Rangers already being sold at shows and once they return from GenCon they will be for sale online. My assumption is that they will be offering the option to mix and match with all packs, not just the stretch goals. This means that there will be a total of five packs of Rangers once the first stretch goal is funded.

As to the game itself, it can be fought with anywhere between a fire team to a platoon or more. A game could be you playing a fire team of Rangers or Delta against another person playing a fire team of Somalis, but I would probably recommend using at least two times as many Somalis as US forces. Otherwise it will be a very short game. There are no solo rules for the system, but with some tweaking it could be possible. I find that the game is best with 1-3 players per side. The better you know the rules, the more players you can include. I find that with intro or learning games it is best if you only have 2-4 players total as it can be a bit overwhelming and can drag if too many people don't know the rules. I would recommend a single player per side and up to a squad for each player to learn the system. After a couple games, you can get to the point where a squad-sized game can easily be played in less than two hours. I recently played in a game that had eight players with over a platoon on each side that was played out in less than five hours. Take into account that only a couple people were familiar with the rules at all and had a large number of players. If there were fewer players or had they had more experience, I think the fight could have played to conclusion in three hours.

Besides how the game plays, I don't know anything for certain nor am I associated with the Sangin crew in any way. I am just putting out what I have read and assume.

Gunnar
