As noted in today's plus-sized set of announcements, The beta PDF release of BattleTech: Interstellar Operations went live this morning; the full PDF will be uploaded (and committed to print) later this year.

For those who may wonder why the BattleMaster on the above cover looks familiar, but different: this cover marks the first public unveiling of a new range of "classic" re-workings of the old Unseen designs.

So they not only ask fans to troubleshoot a draft rulebook, but to pay $10 USD for that privilege. Smart business strategy on their part.

In fairness, the US$10 fee is essentially a discount on the price of the "full" PDF, which will be sold at US$25 once it's locked into place.

They've tapped the fan community's help for years now – and I think I can safely say their typo rate is way down from classic FASA publications, which really doesn't hurt IMO…

Maybe Mongoose should have done that, then.

Yes, it's 10$ for the early version and then you get an upgrade to the final version for free, so it's really a discount with the caveat that there WILL be bugs; but if you help find them then the final product will be better.

Smart move IMO. They hooked me in.
