I'm a regular guy with a talent. Not a superpower like some have said. It's just a skill for 2d and 3d design work. I learned this skill. The radioactive spider bite, strange meteor shower, and ancient necklace I never take off have nothing to do with it! Anyway, I visited a shop with a laser cutter and had a good time. He is not a super villain despite having an actual laser. It is not a lair. It is a trophy shop with a hidden door to a basement lab protected by a series of diabolic and rather pointless death traps. So not a villain. Anyway, his selection of wood was not pleasing to build cool sci-fi terrain and textured bases. After looking around locally I have failed to find good stock for this project. I can design the hell out of a sci-fi building but I need proper supplies to make it. Do you shining examples of internet helpers know where I can get sheets of gaming quality 3mm or 1/8" wood for laser cutting? Thank you! |

Have you tried Home Depot? The boards are not that expensive, lightweight and fairly easy to work with. I hope this helps! |

Home Depot did not carry the quality I seek. |

I'm not sure about 3mm, but I buy 2.5mm MDF here in the UK from a local art shop that does picture framing. That is the key, it's used for backing picture frames. You can usually get it in small sheets on line from picture frame materials suppliers (art hobby suppliers). I get five 3 x 4 foot sheets in a pack for about £25.00 GBP |

There was a discussion of this here before. MDF is very hard to track down in the states. What is sold here in the US is not suitable for use in laser cutters. 3mm plywood seemed to be the default preference for US cutters. |

I go to a formica seller and grab a few handfuls of samples. I cut them and use them hard face down. |
