I've started recording my progress on my blog. My hope is to have the project done by year's end. I'll be using a lot of custom-sculpted models that I eventually hope to make available through Gorgon Studios. I'd love to hear suggestions or feedback from you guys here. This is the first time I've tackled a project of this size, but I finally have the room. Thanks for checking it out. gasmaskjournal.blogspot.com |

it just occurred to me… a sandworm in 6mm scale is still pretty big! How are you going to model one? Ron |

Maybe with some dryer hose for the sandworm? monster project, looking forward to the updates! |

You could make a sandworm in 28mm out of 4" Big O (It's not what you think…): link |

Well, you guys are absolutely right. A 400 meter sandworm would still be about 4 feet long in 6mm/1:285 scale, I think (my math isn't great). My sandworm sculptor and I agreed that we may have to settle for a little more abstraction where the worm in concerned. It has to be castable in resin, but big enough that some 6-7mm infantry could ride on it. I also don't mean to be overly secretive about the custom models, I just don't want anyone to be disappointed if something doesn't come together. But as of now, fingers-crossed, I have three talented sculptors either working on, or planning, stuff. I also have an outlet (Gorgon Studios) to make anything available. Obviously, things will be "generic" enough to avoid IP issues. As soon as I have some WIP shots, I will share them – for sure. This is a great community and I appreciate the feedback! |

Great idea…..dune the movie didn't do too well as I recall when it came out…but like blade runner, 5th element, and john carter from Mars they all have their fans! This project is pretty dang exciting for me. Will keep watching |

More like four and a half feet for a 400m worm (55.25" for 1/285, 52.5" for 1/300). At that size, I'd say look to the ground scale more than the figure scale. Having said that, you don't really need a full one, just a head coming out of the ground and a bend of it breaking the surface then going back under. Still massive, but not as massive as the full length of it would be. |

Agree with Bez on this, you only need the head breaching the ground and a hump farther back for wild sandworms. |
