.., bird-like wings — but not for flight. "Paleontologists working in China have found a new dinosaur with one of the most complex, well-preserved set of wings ever seen on a specimen of its size. In a study published Thursday in the journal Scientific Reports, the researchers describe Zhenyuanlong suni, a cousin of the famed Velociraptor that lived around 125 million years ago. The new species is part of the group -- known informally as raptors -- that would precede birds, the only dinosaurs remaining on Earth today. Many smaller species in the group have been found with long forelimbs and feathered wings, indicating that they might have flown. But bigger species in the group tend to have shorter forelimbs not well-suited for flight, and paleontologists had never found feathers on one of those big-boned raptors -- until now…" Full article here link link Amicalement Armand |

Really? One quick look at the Pulp board will show all sorts of use for Dino's. And the question of flight/no flight makes a difference as to how they might be used. I have seen large feathered prehistoric bird-like miniatures in 28mm. |

I'll bet they're big enough for slow smoking, and go well with BBQ sauce. Of course, they'll probably still try to sell them in pieces, and claim each is a "wing". |

We still have them here in Arizona: link Okay. It's called a roadrunner. But like the Chinese fossil, this thing doesn't normally fly (as we all know from the cartoon). But it will fly in spurts of perhaps 20-30 yards or so. I've seen them do this to get over fences. But they will chase and kill anything the can. When you approach one, you definitely get the feeling he's sizing you up. |

Yeah mandt2, I always get the feeling that roadrunners aren't really afraid of anything. That includes my car. |
