The PEL is due to be published today. We want the PEL! We want the PEL! We Want the PEL! (etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum, ad infinitum, ad hominem, ad astra….) |

Oh, and my vote for the night-time flea market is No. Too many issues arise if you do it. The flea market works just fine now…maybe not perfect, but good enough. Why mess with it? |
47Ronin | 04 Sep 2015 2:42 p.m. PST |
No PEL yet capncarp, but the Fall In tournament schedule has been posted. You can snack on that until the main course comes out of the oven. |

I worked in the music field for many years. I was a vendor at state level shows and an attendee at national level shows. Although they did not have a "flea market" session, they had a similar situation in the vendor hall to deal with and experimented to try to find a solution. Let me throw these two suggestions out as variations on what they did. Option #1 – Choose a day to close the dealer hall for a lunch break of an hour or two that coincides with the running of the flea market. Obviously, the dealers might hate that because of lost selling time. Poll them to see what they think since it is their dime. Option #2 – Have an hour or two at the end of one of the days where you keep the vendor hall open just for dealers to go around and visit/shop. We did this once and provided light snacks and beverages. Another idea we tried that is unrelated to the topic at hand was to schedule an hour during the day where there were no other activities (games, Hobby U, etc.) so as to focus attention on the vendor hall. Maybe come up with some door prizes to attract attendance. Maybe this paired up with Option #1 above could offset each other and work out as a win-win. I am not a vendor and have only done the Sunday free session of the Flea Market once or twice. I may be talking through my hat but am just throwing this out as possible option that should be discussed with and by the people that would be actual participants. |

Yes, the PEL is now available. Many thanks to Dan and his team. 59 pages of games to pick from this year. Obviously, the GMs like Dan and FI. Keep up the good work. Enjoy the games. |

The PEL is out!!! Subsequent revisions will eliminate the typos, table accommodations, and hopefully the double event title that made me go cross eyed. Still, they could have translated everything into Tagalog and released it as a pdf and I would still be excited. Of course 36% of the events are historical (that I'm interested in playing in). |
greenknight4 | 06 Sep 2015 2:03 p.m. PST |
I don't see it on the site. It is inactive? |
Ember52 | 06 Sep 2015 2:48 p.m. PST |
greenknight, The "Games" section under "Events" was active for a day or do. It's not operational now. Maybe it's being updated or just experiencing a glitch. |

Decided to punt on Fall In. Doubt the veneer at the Host will have improved. Going to Southern Front instead. Always heard it was a nice little convention (and the hotel prices are much more affordable). |
Moe the Great | 08 Sep 2015 6:28 a.m. PST |
Looking forward to Fall In!! As always my favorite convention. I work like a dog, but it's all worth it. The Wednesday Night Painting Group will be running some really fun games and as always, (And as if I haven't mentioned it before). we will be running our 10th annual Toys for Tots charity event. Hope to see everyone there. Santa Moe |
pvi99th | 08 Sep 2015 7:18 a.m. PST |
I love Fall In. For some reason my game, which was submitted in time for the PEL isn't showing on it. It is on the registration list though. I see where an update is going to be done so hopefully…. It is F110 |
capncarp | 09 Sep 2015 8:35 a.m. PST |
I have been searching on the HMGS site for an app for smartphones for Fall-In, on the premise that there is/will be one for this con. Having finally graduated this past year from a "not-stupid phone" to a smart phone, I have been eager to try it out. Am I seeking in vain? |
Moe the Great | 09 Sep 2015 9:42 a.m. PST |
PVI99th, You're not alone. We are having the same issue. DAN!!! Help! I sent you an email. |
Poniatowski | 09 Sep 2015 10:54 a.m. PST |
It was brought to my attention that there was an issue with the PEL at release. Thanks for the input as it is very important…. I am going through the events one by one now so as to not miss any. Somehow a few were missed. This is why we have a period of time before event closure and pre-reg opening.. to fix what issues might or might not appear… The team is on it. Letting me know via email is great as I can pinpoint what happened. This will all be fixed before pre-reg opens. |
Poniatowski | 09 Sep 2015 11:04 a.m. PST |
pvi99th… your event was in the export. I just verified it. This will be resolved ASAP. |
Moe the Great | 09 Sep 2015 6:14 p.m. PST |
Dan, Let us know when things are done. Thanks for taking care of things. Moe |
Millercop16 | 09 Sep 2015 10:13 p.m. PST |
Dan, got my brochure only problem it had Cliff Brunkens name on it. |
Poniatowski | 10 Sep 2015 9:18 a.m. PST |
Hmmmm…. @ Millercop16. I will investigate. This was a direct export form the system. I will verify. Moe, v3 of the PEL is up. Guys please have a look. Mind you… this is the actual PEL, so any events submitted after the close will not show up until the update before pre-reg opens. thxs, Dan |
greenknight4 | 10 Sep 2015 1:44 p.m. PST |
Dear Poniatowski I signed up to run three games. 2 were Light Bobs which are scheduled. the third was Day of battle "Bouvines" which I thought was for Friday afternoon but I don't see it listed. Did I mess up? chris |

NO…to late nite flea market. This is one area thats not broke…leave it alone… |
Poniatowski | 14 Sep 2015 8:50 a.m. PST |
Ok…. I was assured that pending my review the updated PEL would be up. I was working on typos, etc… most form game entry from the submitters! All events that made the PEL deadline are actually in the PEL now… no jokes this time (I apologize Frank!) Anyway, I will be speaking to the IT folk and getting it up if it isn't yet. dan |
Moe the Great | 14 Sep 2015 10:03 a.m. PST |
No changes yet.. or at least not to the game I'm looking for. I'll keep looking. :) |
Poniatowski | 15 Sep 2015 4:42 a.m. PST |
The PEL was reviewed in its entirety last night. All events were identified and corrections were made that GM's asked for. This required a lot of work. The correct PEL will be up today if it isn't already this morning. Again, I apologize. We are still ahead of schedule and folks will be able to see the correct PEL online before Pre-Reg opens and also online when they do pre-reg. Dan |
Poniatowski | 18 Sep 2015 10:13 a.m. PST |
The PEL went up the other day.. sorry for not updating…. I had a huge audit at work….. Currently every event that met the PEL guidelines is up for viewing.. I am working over my guy to let me post the other 4 that came in later and then 2 more just came in the other day! Dan |
Poniatowski | 25 Sep 2015 11:22 a.m. PST |
Shameless bump….. Pre-reg is alive and well…. a LOT of folks are taking advantage of pore-reg to avoid the lines.. THANK YOU! AND….. apparently.. with a LOT LESS issues now than before. Thank you all for taking the time to read instructions, etc… !!! Dan |
Daribuck | 30 Sep 2015 4:09 p.m. PST |
Just registered as a dealer… Easy peasy! And oh yes, please put in a vote from me for a Flea market that does NOT overlap the dealer times. As a solo dealer, it is difficult for me to go to Wally's basement as a buyer, and almost impossible as a seller. I basically have to abandon my booth, and take a fairly long hike to the opposite part of the "hotel", which is even longer if I buy stuff and have to haul it back! Now granted, I can sell used stuff as a dealer, which I do, but I also miss the comradarerie and "action:" of Wally's when I am not there! Cheers, Daniel Six Sided Simulations. |
capncarp | 03 Oct 2015 9:59 a.m. PST |
Ok, here's a 'testing the waters" question: Mrs. Carp asked if there was a market in the Wally's Basement shoppers for "Gifts to take home for your Significant Other: or, What did you bring me from the Great War(game Convention), Honey?" category? In addition to some of my older games and gaming bits and greeblies and books, she has some horror and history DVDs to sell but more pointedly, she has the remaining stock from her jewelry business that was cut short by her accident last year. Most items of this ilk would be in the $5 USD-$10 range with some of the nicer pieces going for around $25. USD Note: these prices are pretty close to wholesale; she's not trying to make oodles o' cash, just to get back what she paid for them plus a tiny bit for profit. She is also very good at matching pieces to the customer's needs and desires, color preferences, etc. Constructive responses will be appreciated. |
DF2009 | 03 Oct 2015 2:39 p.m. PST |
Dan, do I have a team for Wally's Basement? I talked to Brenda… I have weekend off so I'm good. Didn't know how we are looking on staff this year… Email me will any special requests. Likewise for anyone else out there… DF2265@yahoo.com hugs -d.- Fischer II (the one with the mohawk ) |
Poniatowski | 07 Oct 2015 1:00 p.m. PST |
LOL! Dennis…. yes, you have a full staff…. I will email you tonight. You will have Devin on your team again for sure too!!! Also…. I wanted to mention…. I worked with the event manager quite thoroughly to try to accommodate everyone's requests.. that wasn't exactly possible for everything and everyone.. I apologize… I even did a bit of the event stuff myself. I want to say…. we simply ran out of room…. we had to stop taking event registrations because there wasn't enough space. So, If you were in the Host rooms… by desire or design… I hope the events turn out well. Also…. I know a lot of you will say… "BUT DAN… I ALWAYS see empty tables all over, all of the time!!!!!" Know this…. events are scheduled as they come in… we meet requests the best we can… sometimes you might see tables empty due to cancellations, etc… or, perhaps there is a 3 hour gap between events we couldn't fill and most events run 4 hours…. (this includes the hour set up and take down)….. conceivably…. you could see tables open for 3-4 hours because one GM cleaned up fast and the other could set up 15mins before his game and be done with it…. We try to schedule one hour set up and take down between events… unless noted otherwise by GM's… "need only 10 mins set up", etc…. So, what am I saying? Please do not beat up the event staff on site… beat me or my event manager (my step son).. we did the best we can for scheduling. Will it be perfect? Hell no, it never is, but we did do our bloody best to accommodate all! And to the guy who submitted some awesome THEME events just last week!!! DAMN YOU!!!!!! I at least got 2 of your 3 in place….. Great games… Napoleonic…. they will be in the system mid week… to register for. They are NOT in the PEL, so keep your eyes open.. I'll post the list here when I get it in the system. Dan

Dan, Would you like me to give a second presentation on a separate topic to help flesh out the seminars? Mike |
historygamer | 07 Oct 2015 4:28 p.m. PST |
"I want to say…. we simply ran out of room…. we had to stop taking event registrations because there wasn't enough space." And this is why historical miniature games should be given preference at an HMGS conventions. Not looking to hijack this thread, so feel free not to respond, as I'll say no more on it. I do have to wonder how many games are being offered in relationship to attendees as well. Too many? That's a simple mathematical exercise based on last year's attendance vs. this year's game registration. Too many games in relationship to attendees creates it own problems and costs. Still, I hope the games are packed and attendance is up. Good luck FI! :-) |

Mike, If you like, but program goes to press this week. I would need any info ASAP. @Snurl1 where are we with terrain? Mine has seen much better days, having been stored in a moist basement…. I pulled it up and was not happy over the weekend. Also… which way did you want to go on the warbands? Base only? We will be able to play almost anywhere that late… I will find a place away from folks so no one sees it as a non historical. I won't get into the arguments on Historical vs non at the shows… I do agree though… our main focus should be on Historical games. Having other types does not bother me though. |

Sooooo maybe this should be a different thread but what is on everyone's shopping list for Fall In? Is there something new and exciting out that everyone is waiting on? My lead pile is getting dangerously low so I might need to invest in a new project and I am looking for ideas. Cheers |
historygamer | 08 Oct 2015 8:05 a.m. PST |
Dan: Since you seem to be communicating with your staff here, let me jump in on some Host issues. Make sure that they put all the lights on in all the rooms. Often they don't do that, especially in the Distlefink. I am surprised no one from the BOD has ever insisted on higher watt bulbs in the gaming rooms, especially some of the smaller rooms. You may want to promote use of the loading dock in the rear of Distlefink for use by GMs for loading and unloading. I made up a slide and gave it to your predecessor for use on the webpage to show people where it is. The old GM Help Desk used to babysit GM's stuff after they unloaded and moved their car. Shame that is gone. You might also want to point out to GMs that there is a handicap ramp in front of the Host they can use if they have a cart (HMGS used to provide handcarts to GMs – loaned out from the GM Help Desk. I wonder whatever happened to those carts?). The ramp leads up into the registration area, IIRC. There is also a small elevator across from the hotel front desk that GMs can use to get their stuff downstairs, if they come in the front way. |

I think I'm going to do a Tilean warband from Town Cryer…500pts. I thought about the Withhunters but kinda like the flavor of the mercenaries a little more…This is going to be a learning game for me…trying to read through the rules now… |
capncarp | 08 Oct 2015 10:24 a.m. PST |
Flashman: good question. I've started a new thread for a Fall-In wishlist. |
Poniatowski | 08 Oct 2015 11:10 a.m. PST |
Flashman.. describe dangerously low…. I am just curious? I told my wife ONCE…. that I was running out of figures to paint…. she laughed and then moments later returned with a box of my figures…. 28mm….. must have been a few hundred in there….. I just wanted to see if your perception of dangerously low is quite as high as mine! LOL! |
snurl1 | 08 Oct 2015 2:31 p.m. PST |
Dan- I will provide the terrain and board. Just bring your warband and their rules. Any official warband is cool with me. By official i mean published by GW in WD, Town Cryer, or Fanatic, as well as the ones in the main book. |
