Not really. I know the rules.
And when I was thrown in, I pretty much knew I had it coming.
I was taking a stand, for Truth, Justice and blah blah blah.

The Beast Rampant16 Jul 2015 5:11 p.m. PST

I've never been, though I've expected to hear that "cop-knock" at the door on more than one occasion.

I've had my "unhand me, don't you know who I am ?!" speech ready for some time.

Never been.

Mako1116 Jul 2015 5:28 p.m. PST

Yes, once, or thrice.

Facts ARE dangerous things…….

skippy000116 Jul 2015 5:35 p.m. PST

I'm surprised I haven't been sometimes.

Weasel16 Jul 2015 5:45 p.m. PST

Sometimes.
I've gotten DH'ed once where I knew it would happen and couldn't keep my mouth shut.

Mitochondria16 Jul 2015 5:58 p.m. PST

Once was a surprise. The second hasn't happened yet.

Phillius Sponsoring Member of TMP16 Jul 2015 6:17 p.m. PST

Yes, been there once for stating a fact.

Was kind of surprised.

elsyrsyn16 Jul 2015 6:21 p.m. PST

Sort of. I never push the ! button, figuring that I can just as easily click away from some idiot's ramblings and ignore them, so I suppose it sort of surprised me that somebody's panties got in such a wad that they felt the need to push it over something I posted. Different strokes for different folks.

One time not at all. The other time yes. That's all I remember anyway.

I've told the Dawghouse staff – no more surprises. It's not funny any more.

Robert Kennedy16 Jul 2015 6:58 p.m. PST

I've been in once, and I have to admit to being bemused by the reason.

DesertScrb16 Jul 2015 8:00 p.m. PST

Yes, a post in which I said that TMP stands for something other than "The Miniatures Page" was considered a group attack. Ridiculous.

nevinsrip16 Jul 2015 8:17 p.m. PST

Yes, for writing "go away" to someone. I had no idea that it was a felony. Seriously, who reads the rules? I appealed my sentence and was fully pardoned.
I now know not to tell someone to go away.

WaltOHara16 Jul 2015 8:52 p.m. PST

Never been, in all the long years I've been on here.

Texas Jack16 Jul 2015 11:33 p.m. PST

I have never had the honor of being there, but I have been surprised by some who were DH´d and also by some who were not.

Disco Joe17 Jul 2015 2:12 a.m. PST

Yes once and done.

John Treadaway17 Jul 2015 2:36 a.m. PST

Like many have said here: yes,it happened once. I was young and the temptation was just too great…

Don't recall ever being there ;)

zippyfusenet17 Jul 2015 4:29 a.m. PST

I have never, in heat, posted anything on the internet that was not completely thought out, that I would not stand by forever, or that embarrassed me later.

Oh wait. That was some other guy. Yes, I have been surprised, once or twice, by what I posted and how it turned out.

Martin Rapier17 Jul 2015 4:49 a.m. PST

I was mildly surprised. All I did was point out the obvious, that someone was both a troll and a nazi (as in the card carrying, swastika wearing, goose stepping, celebrating Hitlers birthday kind).

It would appear I contravened some rules in doing so.

And back then it was proper DH'ing, with the site contents scrambled for the inmates. All there was to do was hang around in the showers, and that was REALLY surprising.

I don't believe that happens now. Scarred me for life anyway.

John Treadaway17 Jul 2015 4:54 a.m. PST

The best bit about the dog house was that when I googled "I'm in the jail house now" I linked to an excellent band (not the very unusual young woman that featured) called Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three who I recently went to see in London.

So I don't regret alluding to nazi's just one little bit.

Made me the man I am today etc etc

Certainly increased my interest in that sort of music! It made me rethink my whole attitude to harmonicas, for instance.

goragrad17 Jul 2015 5:30 a.m. PST

As a recently released first timer – yes.

On reflection, however I did realize that for certain worldviews dogwhistles are always going off.

Cosmic Reset17 Jul 2015 5:34 a.m. PST

No. I've been surprised a couple of times, when I wasn't. I'm also frequently surprised when others are, and more often, when they are not.

Gwydion17 Jul 2015 6:34 a.m. PST

Yes,very,
particularly as I was agreeing with Bill at the time.
Still haven't the faintest idea why. The DH, not the agreeing…althoughgrin

deephorse17 Jul 2015 6:39 a.m. PST

Found myself there once and was quite surprised. Apparently I broke the rule that says you can't use the words "news" and "fox" in the same sentence. Drat, I've done it again.

I was innocent, I tell ya. Innocent!

Yes, I think about half my time there are from my jokes, I think most europeans have learned you have to be carefull about joking on an american run forum.

The other half is very deserved.

jpattern217 Jul 2015 7:20 a.m. PST

Hah! Yes, I was, once, when I said that Rush was just noise to me.

I meant the band, not the right-wing radio host. Bill let me out after I PMed him.

(Although I'm well aware that hardcore fans of the band probably felt that was still grounds for DHing, if not banning outright.) grin

Pokey LaFarge is amazing. I'd heard an interview with him on NPR, but found his videos in exactly the same way as John. Pokey's albums hold up very well. Envious of the chance to have seen him in London.

John Treadaway17 Jul 2015 9:13 a.m. PST

@ jpattern2

Hah! Yes, I was, once, when I said that Rush was just noise to me.

Agreed: Permanent Wave, er… sorry: Permanent Dawg House for you sir (little Rush joke there for the fans… of which I am one)

@ Wulfgar

Pokey was great though I'm not sure the 5 piece backing band is any better than the tight three piece. Just like Rush, in fact: I like small, slick bands (if that doesn't sound bizarre!).

Meanwhile, back to the OP: Dawg House: yes. Tragic. Dastardly miscarriage of justice… who cares? Not me any more, I can tell you!

Yes. I was.

Roderick Robertson Fezian17 Jul 2015 11:01 a.m. PST

Yep. It was a bum rap, but I sat out my sentence and got this cool new tattoo…

Cerdic17 Jul 2015 12:47 p.m. PST

Yes. Totally surprised!

I made a lighthearted joke of the sort you hear everyday on prime time in Britain, and no-one gets offended.

But there you go. It was many years ago and I learned my lesson….

Oddball17 Jul 2015 6:13 p.m. PST

Yes, but why you are determined to be thrown into into the DH and for how long (I got 14 days once for really nothing except asking who was going to pay for President Obama's. Aunts funeral), seems to be very strange I' m not surprised it happens.

Me, too. And since that long ago virtual incarceration, I haven't allowed a single quip or jest to cross my face let alone spring from my keyboard.

Just been released !!!!! Must be a personal best being DH'd twice within about a weeks time ! huh? Even changed my screen name to the "The Cooler King" for a couple of days. I keep saying I'm going watch what I say, especially on the UM boards. That has not seemed to work out so well … I just camed here to check out other 6mm models, terrain, etc. … But then I got attacked by the Bleeped text on the F/site. And got caught up in all that drama. And then seeing how the Editing is on TMP I get sweeped up in Bill Friday's dragnet. Often … too often. Bill even gifted me a membership for last Christmas. No sure who is more sorry for that present ! At this rate if were a Russkie criminal, in and out of prison, my arms would be covered in tats ! huh?

Goonfighter18 Jul 2015 9:19 a.m. PST

I wasn't surprised at all, given the subject of the thread and my strong opinion on it, I entered the debate with the DH as an expected outcome.

I'm not a prolific or compulsive poster so it's impact was negligible. If it involved being unable to view the site, that would have been a bit different but – frankly – TMP is not the only wargaming website, so that too would have only a minor deterrent factor.

It's a bit draconian for cultural mistakes such as the recent Grauniad issue and if you really, really want to say what you think it's a negligible thing.

I'd rather avoid it but I'd say it's something of a non event.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP19 Jul 2015 7:56 a.m. PST

WOW !!!!!! Would ya look at that !? I made it 24 hrs with out being DH'd !!!!! WOO !!!! WOO !!!!!

Sergeant Paper20 Jul 2015 5:41 p.m. PST

Once I was surprised, the other time(s?) I knew I had earned it, and did the time with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.

I managed to put up new curtains and replaced that tatty old poster on the wall with a new full length 'Myra Breckenridge' poster… did a nice batch of Pruno and left it cellared for the OFM's next visit, too.

Mute Bystander21 Jul 2015 5:36 a.m. PST

Worth saying, worth staying… in the DH.

Supercilius Maximus22 Jul 2015 4:51 a.m. PST

I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition.

Which meant I wasn't disappointed when they didn't turn up.

Clays Russians22 Jul 2015 7:14 a.m. PST

I was once, I have absolutely no idea why?
