Title says it all. I'm working thru my backlog (eliminating project in the "never get to this" pile.

Is there a time during the year when selling (on e-bay) is more active?

Is there a time to avoid?

In New Zealand it is when the international dairy market is not falling flat on its face!

So now is bad.

BAD: when folks have no money
BAD: when a hot new property releases
GOOD: after the Holidays (Self Presents)
GOOD: After Tax Season and refunds are flowing in

If you MUST sell your figures, it's a bad time.

I always avoid selling on ebay around large cons figuring potential customers have blown all their minis cash for a while.

Unless I am selling something that is inexpensive, I generally avoid putting up auctions around Christmas. I think a lot of people have their disposable income tied up from November on.

Christmas is the worst on ebay. Gamers are buying prezzies for others rather than themselves. Best time to buy though.

I guess it depends on the lot's ticket price and general attractiveness. If it is reasonably priced say £100.00 GBP or less, and 'hot' then it will probably sell well. If it's a big ticket item, say £500.00 GBP or more, or it is out of vogue, then it will be harder to sell.

The money is out there, and you would be surprised at what boys spend on toys.

Low tickets will make more at some times of year, but we are only talking a few pounds difference and your guess at a good time to sell will only be as good as anyone else's.

It is probably a better question to ask if what your selling is 'hot or not'. Of course the staples of wargaming, Napoleonics, etc., will be less affected by trend than some other periods.

Here in the UK my friend and I think spring and autumn are good and summer and winter are less good. People with families have different priorities for their cash before Christmas and when the kids are on the long holiday break.

Having said that if I could predict E-Bay buyers then I'd be a rich man. Maybe.

In my experience summer months are quite bad for selling on ebay. It looks like there are much less buyer around. September-November is a very good time.
