Having a complete 15mm Ottoman army and a decent number of Cossacks in the lead mountain, I recently took advantage of an opportunity to acquire a damaged, second-hand copy of the BFaS rulebook, and have since discovered the existence of the Deluge supplement.

I'm only interested in the Ukrainian 'front', and have no desire to focus on the northern arena, so I don't need the specialist Swedish army lists and other material relevant to the Deluge campaigns included in this tome, but my online research tells me that the book also contains many changes to the basic rules and lists from BfaS.

Does anyone with inside information know whether there'll be a second edition of BFaS that incorporates these changes? If so I'd rather wait for it to be released rather than fork out considerably more than I paid for my shabby copy of BFaS for a book that I only need part of that's soon to be rendered redundant.

There's revised rulebook for BFaS which includes some but not all of the changes from Deluge (i.e no new scenarioes) -we published it after 'The Deluge', once original print of English rulebook was sold out. Currently we do not have plans to release 2nd edition, at least not anytime soon.

I'm curious as to why you didn't include all the changes from 'The Deluge' in the revised edition of BFaS, Michal.

The whole idea with the news scenarioes was that they were written specially for 'The Deluge', as in this supplement we want to emphasis 'small war' that was so important during the early stages of the war. As at that time original print of English rulebook was sold out, we decided to add only some changes (most of all army lists and changes to some Special Rules) to the Revised Rulebook, to make it easier for new players to match their army lists with those from 'The Deluge' (i.e. for the tournament plays). As Scenarioes section was so big and changed so much (it would also delay printing Revised Rulebook even further), we decided to leave it only for 'The Deluge'.
In future there will be probably something similiar with new divisional scenarioes, as they will be published in one of the future supplements.
Of course those 'old' skirmish scenarioes that are available in both versions of main rulebook should still make great introduction to the game and – hopefully- bring new players plenty of good fun.

Any more supplements in work, Michael?

Currently we're working on 1st volume of 'Armies of By Fire and Sword'. It will be mix of already published historical armies/divisions/skirmish, that are now available in pdf + plenty of new shiny ones (approx. 10 new historical divisions and 10 new historical skirmish). Those from pdfs will be updated to match changes done in 'The Deluge'. Aim is to make it available for Christmas

I suppose what I'm really asking is are the new rules in 'The Deluge' designed to supersede those in the original English language rule book, or are do they merely represent a fine-tuning of the rules specifically for the Deluge campaigns, leaving the original rules valid for other campaigns?

Majority of the rules stays the same but new skirmish scenarioes from 'The Deluge' replace old scenarioes from main rulebook.

Thanks Michal. Unless the new scenarios are available separately somewhere I'll just make do with the original ones, rather than pay a substantial price for an unnecessary book.
