In Frostgrave you have the ability to choose a lot of different soldier types. What is the cost limit for designing your warband? What is the advantage of purchasing a bunch of thugs instead of more expensive soldiers? Will it mean you will have more money to spend on magical items or something like that? |

OK maybe I can answer my own question. You get 500gc to spend, so after buying an apprentice (200 gc), you have 300 left. You could get 5 thugs (20gc each) for a Knight (100gc) You have a maximum of 8 soldiers. So you have options on how to set it up. More expensive troops mean less members. Example 1 Wizard Apprentice 200gc Knight 100gc Ranger 100gc Barbarian 100gc Example 2 Wizard Apprentice 200gc Knight 100gc Ranger 100gc 5 Thugs 100gc I have heard that a 100gc Soldier most likely wouldn't win against 5 thugs, so in the examples above, you might want to go with option 2 over option 1 because you would have a lot more troops. |

I ran an expensive warband once, but found that a larger, faster warband may be more effective in grabbing treasures. A lot will depend on the terrain – there is not much terrain, then the faster warband will have the advantage. If there are choke-points which allow you to force the opponent into combat, then a stronger warband may be better. |

Interesting, I'll have to give it a read tonight, as my Level 5 Frostgrave Nickstarter turned up today |

It's about Wizards parties exploring a frozen ruined city, seeking treasure, competing against other Wizard parties and avoiding wandering monsters, traps etc. Basically. |

I've been planning out my warband after going for a mix of types. Apprentice 200 gc Archer 50 gc Crossbowman 50 gc Man at arms 80 gc Thief 20 gc Infantryman 50 gc 2 thugs at 20 gc each War hound 10gc I've put together some of the plastic soldier figures from the box set. Overall, I'm very satisfied. If you don't like multipart plastic figures I doubt if these will change your mind but the range of options is very good. Each sprue has 5 bodies, 10 heads, a good variety of weapons and extras such as packs & ropes. I may raid my bits box for a warhammer but that's about it. |

Funnily enough that's exactly the force I came up with. Without having played a game yet it seems like a good mix. |

I thought you could only have 8 in your warband + a wizard. I count 9 in your soldier lineup. |

Excellent summaries here. A very attractive scale and system. |

Can anyone tell me how they think the lesser races, goblins, dwarves, and elves, would play in the game? I've got a lot of older figs that are just screaming, "please let me fight again." |
