What in the hell is a Frother? No really!

Mako1112 Jul 2015 1:07 p.m. PST

Fortunately, I'm well stocked in microwave popcorn for this one.

Let the games begin…….

Winston Smith12 Jul 2015 1:15 p.m. PST

Ok.
They are a website run by sinister foreigners.
OMG!
Some of them do not like us!
I'll live.
I will not give you a direct link but will leave googling "Frothers Unite!" as an exercise for the student. Look in the Frothpot for the TMP hatred.

There are a lot of TMP exiles, both self exiled and exiled by Dear Editor in Chief Bill. So you must take EVERYBODY's comments there with a grain of salt.

Uhhhhhh Bleeped text?

Intrepide12 Jul 2015 1:26 p.m. PST

It is a mechanism through which heat and air are forced in a mechanical and predictable way.

Shedman12 Jul 2015 1:34 p.m. PST

It's another wargames forum – frothersunite.com/phpBB3

I visit TMP, Frothers, Lead Adventure, TWW and quite a few others – they are all different and entertaining

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian12 Jul 2015 2:27 p.m. PST

It's an unmoderated wargames forum, where almost anything goes… porn, crudity and lots of gossip.

Frothers: the yin to our yang:

"Thou, like the world, th' oppress'd oppressing,
Thy smiles increase the wretch's woe:
And he who wants each other blessing
In thee must ever find a foe."

Or for those less inclined to verse:

Is the search facility broke? No, really?!

Gwydion12 Jul 2015 3:44 p.m. PST

You've given up on Sassoon then ochoin?

Personal logo ochoin Supporting Member of TMP12 Jul 2015 4:28 p.m. PST

I took some antacids for it.

Zargon12 Jul 2015 5:02 p.m. PST

LOL ochoin, strange never really took a walk over at 'that' pub so never got heated about it, I like my beer warm and my pub lunches cold so if I hear cows mooing outside I'm happy :) Yes I can go off like a James Blunt with the best of them (cussing for you mericans:) but its not actually the hobby its venting for no reason, just showing a cheap attitude if you ask. And getting too heated over a subject doesn't help either (yes I got rid of my modern discussions addiction too :D)
Cheers anyway enjoying the AoS debate/debacle here :)

so never got heated about it,

Possibly the single, most intelligent thing I've read on TMP, Jules.

Cherno13 Jul 2015 2:19 a.m. PST

I believe this is the term aplied to every miniature painter who has experienced the dreaded so-called "frosting desaster"; using matte spray varnish in less-than-ideal climatic conditions and thereby applying a "frosting" effect on the painted miniature, ruining it. These poor souls, myself included, are commonly called "Frothers"… Because they froth at the mouth after the company of painted Redcoats has to go straight to the stripping jar again.

Clays Russians13 Jul 2015 8:52 a.m. PST

I looked, sincerly I was not impressed….. So a bit of -yank- bashin'

Clays Russians13 Jul 2015 8:54 a.m. PST

And yeah, I frosted a brigade of French guards for a friends Fontenoy project. Application of necessary corrections were applied……….

Winston Smith14 Jul 2015 8:40 a.m. PST

I live in a blue state.

Winston Smith14 Jul 2015 8:42 a.m. PST

Everybody has to have a hobby. That is Lagartija Mike's.
That's an even more pathetic self validation than mine. grin

Robert Kennedy14 Jul 2015 12:23 p.m. PST

Oranjzicht.laluzdejesus is either a Frother or disgruntled former member or both that feels the need to create a new account and then try to cause dissent with his poor attempts to smear Bill and TMP. He won't be here for long.

Robert

He seems to be able to make new accounts here at will.

I catch most of them before he can post anything, but sometimes he gets through. Just ignore him.

Clays Russians15 Jul 2015 7:40 a.m. PST

He was deleted four times, persistent little penii isn't he

Marc at work16 Jul 2015 8:21 a.m. PST

Is that a type of pasta?

As to Frothers – it is ok, ish, but personally I find it has such a small membership that unless one is a member of the "in crowd" then it is probably not worth posting anything.

And the language does wear thin after a while.

Each to their own of course.

alien BLOODY HELL surfer16 Jul 2015 3:36 p.m. PST

it's always worth posting Marc, aside from the frothpot there is more to the site, just be warned if posting paintjobs be prepared for criticism – never unjust, but be prepared. Too many damn good painters on there though not to take any advice – and for the record I don't consider myself one of some 'in crowd' – just a member.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian16 Jul 2015 3:39 p.m. PST

He was deleted four times…

More like 40 accounts, by now…

Clays Russians20 Jul 2015 9:57 a.m. PST

Still, I really was not impressed. Looked like a lot of disjointed drivel and Bleeped textwaffeling.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian20 Jul 2015 9:03 p.m. PST

Mixed in with a lot of snobbery of various types.

David Manley21 Jul 2015 5:03 a.m. PST

All in all its a bit like this place. And many of the folks there are regulars here, I think they just like going somewhere a bit more chilled than TMP sometimes
