I know Clydeside makes them (in white metal) for 1/1200.

Before I start making my own does any company make them for 1/2400 – ?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Joe,
Check em out here:

Click on "Product Details" then click on photo for better view. I think they would work fine. I need to get some (of each size, for different size shells) for our 1/600 Ironclad games! I've been looking for nice splash markers, I think I found em!
Thanks for the info on these.

Peter,

Sorry, I wasn't clear in that first post: I do use the Clydeside products for my 1/1200 games – imo they are excellent.

Their 1/1200 DC Explosions just seem too large for 1/2400 gaming – maybe I'm overthinking it.

This pic has a GHQ Brit. H Class DD – the two 'explosions' behind it are Clydeside's Light Splash Explosions:

This second pic has the same model with their 'Depth Charge Explosions' behind it. They are certainly the right shape but seem large – what do you think?

Too big.

Jcfrog: I think you're right. I think the 'Light Spash Explosions' will work.

Joe, I think the Light Splash Explosions will work for what you are wanting to use em for also. I still wanna get some of each for our ACW naval games. Thanks again!

Peter,

Agreed: I think they will work great for 1/600.

Not as "pretty" but I think Litko has different sizes of such… check link

Given that you will only need a half dozen depth charge bursts at a time I'd make my own with milliput or greenstuff. Find a small dome [a pen cap or similar?] and then build up layers of greenstuff until you have a satisfactory shape – paint grey/blue and white and there you go. You could make them solid if a suitable base was not lying around.

The litko ones would do but are not much better than a printed counter – though I guess it depends on taste.

You could trim down the size of the light splash explosions a little to make them look a touch shorter.

Good point. The metal used is fairly soft and should be easy to work with.
