I had a number of old Jackdaw figures of SYW Scots and used them for my 71st Foot of the AWI period. This is no topic for purists. What do you think?

Interesting figs!

Some of those figures look like the old Willie 30mm French & Indian War Highlanders.

Those are way too nice to keep in a box. Use them, and if anyone complains, offer to lower their morale scores to appropriately abysmal early war values to "make things right". :-)

I inherited a unit of Highlanders dressed just like that with my AWI collection, and they're too pretty not to put on the table, so I use them. In fact, I think I've used them in every AWI game I've run so far. grin I also have a few units of trousered Scots to march alongside them.

As a matter of general principle, I also prefer to keep each unit looking visually unique to ease sorting during play, setup and teardown, so I don't mind saying some units are painted in "parade ground dress" to make it easier on the GM and players.

The figures are very nicely done. And if "button counters" don't like the kilts, just give them the moon and carry on up the Khyber by using the Scots to beat their pants off!

Am I prejudiced towards kilted Highlanders? You betcha!!

I have my own kilted AWI Highland unit, the 84th Royal Highland Emigrants: link

I was thinking of something similar, I have some 15mm Old Glory SYW Scots and was thinking of drafting them into my AWI army, may just have made up my mind to go ahead with that plan, very nice figures from both of you, nice work gents.

"Button counters" I imagine would be bound not to like the kilt, since the garment is entirely lacking in that particular commodity.

The schoolgirl socks are undeniably cute, though.
