I see one lowly "pilgrim" on foot, one brave nutcase. Seventeen miles of "marching" on horseback hardly reenacts what most of the Crusader army was going through…. |

I mean this as apolitically as possible; it's a very interesting choice to reenact the Crusades in their historical arena. |

Rather insane. Russians do that sort of thing? Hadn't heard before. Rather like poking a bees nest, don't you think? What if several thousand reenactors show up for subsequent Hattin commemorations? But what if Muslims take up reenacting as well, just to provide the correct opposing forces? How would that work out? It could get out of control and go all "Holy War! and Jihad!" on the landscape. At some point, the Israelis would put the kibosh on it, and incite the ire of Christian and Muslim alike, thus bringing on the apocalypse at Jerusalem. That would be a surprise "match to the cord". Who would have seen that coming?… |
