I recently converted a Safari Dragon toy from a very yellow-gold dragon, to an AD&D Bronze Dragon for my fantasy games. I searched for a suitable bronze color, metallic paint. What I found was called, Liquid Leaf, a Xylene solvent based, metallic paint, containing copper. The label even warns that it will tarnish, over time, unless it is sealed. The Liquid Leaf paint is made by Plaid, available from Michael's Craft Store. Here is a photo of the dragon toy, in process. You can clearly see the factory paint job, and why I needed to cover it, for a bronze dragon…

Anyway, the paint covered very well, but it was still too golden, in color. I then painted the figure with The Dip, Tudor color, to darken everything, which yielded a nice shade of bronze, I think. Here is an image of the finished conversion, with a couple of 28mm figures, for scale comparison. The dungeon tile floor has 1-inch squares. Cheers!

I always wonder how these big Dragons wind up in the narrow confines of a Dungeon… hiccough while going Between, perhaps?

But, that is a nice spot of re-painting. I love re-purposing toys like this.

And, thanks for the info about the paint!
