Can't choose. Had fun games with all his rulesets.

Me either

The mini campaign to use pre Blucher is the most interesting.

If you were of a mind you could use it to generate your battles, drive your Blucher cards into contact and then play it out with these or even unpack the cards ' brigades and play it out in full, or the most interesting sector, with a tactical, battalion- based set.

Might and Reason

Grande Armee or Might and Reason. It was all downhill after those two.

Bricole!

Might & Reason – they seem to have dumbed down since then. I own 3 of the 4 sets he's released since Might & Reason but dont play any of them. His direction, objectives and audience have changed I think – which is totally fine, but doesn't do it for me the way the earlier sets did.

Grande Armee was brilliant. I like his rules but the newer ones are not what I am looking for.

Lasalle or Blucher

CATenWolde05 Jul 2015 4:31 p.m. PST

Lasalle, with GA a close second. As several others have mentioned above, his design direction took a significant turn towards gamism after this point. Great for some, but not for me.

I've not played but have read several. Maurice seemed to be the one closest to anything I was looking for. Pretty straight forward.

Dexter Ward06 Jul 2015 3:44 a.m. PST

Maurice.

I'd agree that Maurice and Longstreet are more on the 'game' end of the spectrum.
But Blucher, his most recent set, is definitely back to the simulation end. It's much faster playing than Grand Armee.

Longstreet. Very slick mechanics, turns a boring era into exciting battles and a campaign system that is interesting but not more interesting than the miniature battles. A very strong set of rules.
