I am taking a break from painting my Prussian 1806 army and looking to paint Pire division for Quatre Bras. I have almost finished the 1eme Chasseurs a cheval and looking to order lancers from Adler miniatures. According to the Mont Saint Jean uniform webiste the 6eme lancer regular company trumpeters wore a polish style habit and helmet because they were from Chevaux-Légers Lanciers de Berry prior to the 100 days campaign. However, the elite company trumpeter wore the regular lancer helmet. Does anyone know if this is correct for the regular company trumpeters?

Also I found a few pictures online of lance pennons being in the facing colors of the regiments.

Would this be correct for 1815 or correct in general? I have seen so many with just red and white for all regiments I am not sure which is correct.

Thank you in advance

Rousselot, in his series of plates, shows a lancer of the 5th (sky blue facings) with the lance slung behind his right arm. The pennon is clearly scarlet over white. He also shows a lancer of the 6th (?dark red? facings) with the same scarlet over white pennon.

The lancer of the 2nd regiment (in the illustration above, orange facings) wears a white plume, which may be a feature unique to the era under the King, before Waterloo. He does not seem to be from the elite company.

On the other hand, the elite company lancer of the 6th, mentioned above, has a scarlet rolled crest or "raupe" on the helmet, and scarlet epaulettes, but wears a white plume!

I wonder if lance pennons might also have been changed to regimental color under the King?

So I may just be adding to the confusion!

Happy 4th!

Thank you GdP!

I know certain dragoon regiments such as the 5eme dragoons had white or red over white plumes dating back to pre- revolutionary times because they were the colonel-general regiment. I can't remember which dragoon regiments were converted to become lancer regiments. I found some more pictures showing the white over blue pennons for the 5eme lancers

Anyone else know about the trumpeter uniforms for the 6eme lancers? I just wanted to make sure because I wanted to place an order with Adler miniatures.

Rousselot has a plate for Lancer trumpeters, and shows one for the 6th. It appears to be elite company, white epaulettes, red raupe on helmet. Second from left on bottom row in this picture from Rousselot.

Note the natural leather belting and gauntlets, unique to this regiment. An officer is show next on the right

coloured thin canvas trousers during the
1815 campaign…….and buff belting rings a bell

The dragoon regiments that were converted from dragoons to lancers were the 1st, 3d, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 29th.

As five of these regiments were in Spain, only the cadres of two squadrons per regiment were ordered back to France. The cadres consisted of the officers, NCOs, trumpeters, and ten 'picked' men per company. The remaining men and horses were assigned to the other dragoon regiments in Spain.
