Hi All,

Here are photos of some recent additions to my expanding ancient Persian army.

Some Command groups with a 'Great King' Chariot. Scythed chariots, Skirmisher group, Light infantry group and Heavy infantry group. The latter have Greek mercenaries and imitation hoplites/Kardakes.

You can see I'm not shy to use lots of colour!

Figures are a variety of Foundry, Newline, 1st Corps, Old Glory and Black Tree Design. Even a Minifig guy on one command base. Bases are nearly all from Shogun.

Hope you like the photos.

Cheers,
Mick

Gorgeous, and lots of work too. Can't have too much colour with Persians…

Really lovely! Great colours… very vibrant.

Great range of figures – love the varied palette. Encourages me to get on and paint my chariots.

Are you painting on a white basecoat?

Thanks for all your comments!

@Bc1745 – Yes, they are a pain to transport and store. Takes some careful positioning in their box…

@BigRedBat – Thanks Simon. I use a grey basecoat. It's a spray primer that goes straight on. I'm waiting on a few more figures to finish off a camp base to use for your 'To the Strongest!' rules.

Ha, that's what I like to hear! :-)

The yellow head-dresses are great. I am very jealous of the Persians with the bright colours and the Dipylon shields, would love a unit like that. A fine looking army!

Best, Simon

Yes, a very looking army. It is a pity their are no shield transfers like for some other armies.

Here you are sumerandakkad!

I've a feeling I've also seen a painted unit with the eagles on a purple ground on hoplite shields.

Simon – some of the Sasanid transfers are also suitable:

They are also in 15mm, have used 15mm stars and Sasanid transfers for molded on Foundry shields

Look for "Kardakes as Lycians and Pamphylian spearmen"

A neverending army I am afraid!
