Hi,

Did anyone else on here back the kickstarter for the AvP game by Prodos miniatures? If you did have you received your game yet or any communications giving a delivery date from Prodos? as I have seen it for sale at less than the KS price on a few online stores.

Seems to me that if they can ship to retailers then all backers should have received the game by now

cheers,

DrNick

Not sure where the ones for sale came from but this is the message on the kickstarter site.

The games are currently being shipped to backers as we speak. It's planned to be shipped in two waves – the first being the base game and the second all the extras that backers have ordered.

Communication has been frequent from the Prodos team and we have not felt neglected at all.

Worth also keeping an eye on the "Alien vs Predator: The Hunt Begins" facebook page (the unboxing images are there).

BoomBoomBoom03 Jul 2015 9:51 a.m. PST

Not got mine yet but soon fingers crossed.

crazy cat03 Jul 2015 10:23 a.m. PST

Unimpressed that it is available in retail and via internet resellers before they shipped to backers.

Lardie the Great03 Jul 2015 11:52 a.m. PST

Muncehead, I'd like to agree with you but then we'd both be wrong. First point retailers got it first and can be bought there cheaper than KS offer prices, the second point is that the KS boardgame figures were supposed to be exclusive to the KS version and superior to the retail version but the first production run (and needs Fox to sign off retail version) has exactly the same pieces (this is according to Prodos)and will be some time before swopping molds, third they claimed they just needed a few points for Fox to sign off and then good to go, but then it transpiered this was just for the boardgame and didn't include the add ons, fourth originally it was just going to be one wave delivery and finally to tell backers not to bother them with queries about deliveries while all this has go on, beggers belief, I mean have they heard of customer services? because right now they need all the goodwill they can get, especially when they have another KS in the works. You may have guessed I'm a backer who waiting for add ons and the wargame book and is well cheesed off, maybe Tony Reidy got a job with Prodos PR.

Shem66703 Jul 2015 2:33 p.m. PST

Sadly Lardie is spot on… Communications were poor to nonexistant and after all the waiting, non backers get it cheaper and earlier.
Prodos got one guy sending about 40 packages each day to backers. Thats ridicoulos.
To other backers: check that your pledge manager is closed. I had to close mine three times since they reopened it again and again… Guess what, as long as its open, they dont send you your goods. Honi soit qui mal y pense.
I was patient and defended Prodos since the KS ended but right now I am only p****d…

Redroom03 Jul 2015 3:00 p.m. PST

There was a message from them today. They said some retail stores received their set earlier die to contractual obligations, but wont be resupplied until after KS backers get theirs.

Personally I like weekly communications on what is left to do and such until a project is delivered. This looks like it should come to market at least, unlike some other ones I backed.

Wee Gamers have done an interview with Prodos Games, gives some good insight into what is going on at Prodos and their thoughts on the kickstarter:-

CptKremmen14 Aug 2015 2:01 a.m. PST

Northstar have said that they have been RESUPPLIED and many kickstarter backers still have nothing.

I understand there could be a delay with the "Extras" but can anyone think of a single reason why the basic set could not have been sent out to EVERY kickstarter backer before retail.

Remember it is the kickstarter backers who funded the entire development.

They are getting their basic box much later than anyone buying retail and aren't even getting their extras until "some time in the future"

Lardie the Great14 Aug 2015 10:48 a.m. PST

Based on the interview, they knew that their contract with FOX and costs of plastic production meant they couldn't do what they were promising. While it's unfortunate that some Prodos staff have been effected personally, however I'm sure I'm not the only backer whose financial situation isn't what it was and the thought that you may have been ripped off adds sress you could do without. So while the interview is interesting, how much solace you'll get is questionable.

CptKremmen16 Aug 2015 12:34 p.m. PST

I feel ripped off.

They have our money and they have spent it to make product to sell to retail.

They now don't have the money to actually make the product for the kickstarters.

Total ripoff.

crazy cat17 Aug 2015 7:53 a.m. PST

No sympathy whatsoever – just more excuses and evasions.

No mention of how many backer units they have actually shipped and how many left to go – simple questions to answer you'd think?

There was a mention of 3K backers and 200 units throughput a day at one point – but clearly most of those are going to retail or website orders, not KS backers, otherwise they wouldn't still be 'shipping' the KS after a month and a half.

Has any EU/UK KS backer actually confirmed receiving their AVP set as promised – excluding picking it up at a con or getting a copy from elsewhere?

Lardie the Great17 Aug 2015 12:31 p.m. PST

Crazy Cat asked the same question on the other AVP thread. At least we don't have a leg to stand on 8D think of it as the beginning of "Alias Smith & Jones" especially the line "and that's a good deal?"

CptKremmen18 Aug 2015 11:27 a.m. PST

I do not know anyone in the UK who has actually received a KS copy yet

Lardie the Great18 Aug 2015 12:41 p.m. PST

Cpt, it wouldn't surprise me…

DrNick24721 Sep 2015 5:03 a.m. PST

Anybody in the UK received anything from this KS yet?

Shinnentai15 Oct 2015 5:59 a.m. PST

Retailers have had stock of the boardgame since mid-july. Three months later, and as a UK Kickstarter backer I still haven't received anything almost two years after I stupidly paid Prodos money.

tnjrp16 Oct 2015 10:46 p.m. PST

The latest from Prodos.

Guthroth17 Oct 2015 4:46 a.m. PST

What a shambles ! It reinforces my belief that massive KS should be avoided if at all possible.

Goose66623 Oct 2015 8:15 a.m. PST

I spoke to Prodos at Derby Wargames Show.
They apparently have an issue where, ALL material, even including "Sorry we don't have an update this week" posts have to be approved by fox, following a staff member making an error early in the KS and posting some "un-approved" material. This apparently means they are now taking 2 weeks to get approval for releases from Fox.. This also apparently explains the fact the KS has to be taken down, as the un-approved material couldn't be removed from the KS page history.

Now those companies who have dealt with likes of Film companies will know this sort of thing often happens and they are very draconian on the control of IP.

I have been fortunate to get my box sets but I am still waiting on the rest like everyone else. I am just hoping Prodos does go bust in the meantime.

There latest update, seems to give a history of the issues and the fact they messed up on shipping and are making a loss. So its a wait and see sadly.. fingers crossed they will honour the KS eventually. The figures having seen them in real life, are lovely.

Not sure how they will go in plastic for the main release though.

TrueCelt05 Nov 2015 6:32 p.m. PST

They're just the worst kind of people, they only care about their own pockets.

Wait and see. People like this don't stay in business for long. If they ever do get set up and running, with their don't-give-a-shit approach to customers, they'll come crashing down like a lump of shit out of the sky.

Keep making mistakes, keep lying, keep actively screwing over the people that matter (you know, the ones you actually NEEDED to set up your company and product). They'll get exactly what they deserve, they'll never even be in a situation like GW, where they're losing customers over time, these guys are barely off the ground and everyone hates them. And NO effort to reach out and rectify the situation! Incredible. Yep, just wait and see.

As for the excuses Goose, I mean damn, I hear you buddy, but 2 weeks for approval, that's fine, that's actually fine. How about the 2 years and the lack of any fund to actually post the product to backers?!? You know what that means? The fact that no fund was ever set up for postage? That means they INTENDED to put the backers into the shitlist, they had absolutely NO intention of prioritizing the Kickstarter backers, they had NO intention of EVER posting to backers first. Think about that for a second.

Honestly, the amount of lies they've spun, things that have been proven lies, you know exactly what kind of vagabonds they are, they've told people loud and clear what kind of people they are, what kind of business they do. If anyone was on a symbolic fence, think about what it means that they can't afford to post to you, but they CAN afford to post to retailers. And, at a significant reduction in price compared to what you paid. Wow. Says a lot.

We're a month away from Christmas. Do you think you're going to get your order before Christmas? What are the bets, will it be March? June? NEXT Christmas?

TrueCelt05 Nov 2015 6:35 p.m. PST

I'm not advocating posting protein-rich fecal matter every single day until they do the right thing and use their funds to post to kickstarter backers. I'm just saying there are options if this goes on much longer. They've gotten away with far too much, for far, far too long.

Lardie the Great06 Nov 2015 2:14 p.m. PST

Actually that's not a bad idea…along with lynching them if they have the bottle to turn up at Salute next year.

crazy cat08 Nov 2015 3:10 a.m. PST

I think they are supposed to be at Dragonmeet in London next month if anybody is going.

KenofYork08 Nov 2015 3:35 a.m. PST

Sounds like kick starter strikes again.

BTW. -These guys approached me about making bases a long time ago but complained my prices were too high and went to China or somewhere like that. I am glad I dodged getting involved.

TrueCelt09 Nov 2015 6:25 p.m. PST

Good call Ken, you managed to dodge a bullet. I tend to avoid China for low-grade plastics, I've heard issues with the toxicity of certain products, there was a concern for people working in close proximity to it, and in fairness, a wargamer's model's bases are going to receive a lot of skin contact. I'd much prefer to go American, or even UK or Europe, for models and plastics in particular, I have a lot more trust in them.

I think anyone that goes to the events should make an effort to pop over to the Prodos stall. You know, just to say hi ;). Good ideas Crazy Cat and Great One. Make them accountable, ask awkward questions, make sure they know you're not happy. They have no right to an easy ride.

wilkowalker10 Nov 2015 3:56 a.m. PST

I am a KS backer and have nothing to show for my investment. I have never had a reply from them, from a number of emails asking for an update.

the latest news link is not promising.

tnjrp11 Nov 2015 12:27 a.m. PST

It's apparently hit-and-miss with Prodos customer service. Or was back in the Warzone Resurrection days, I haven't needed them since and can't say I miss dealing with them. OTOH they got lauded by others on forums not that long ago.

Twoball Cane11 Nov 2015 5:23 p.m. PST

This has been painful to watch over the last several months…. I didn't back that KS….. I don't like the hype prodos made for this game to backers….then drag them thru the mud only to see non-backers pick it up before they do.

I did back Mercs that's another story….

That is turning into a farce….maybe dealing w china shouldn't be done anymore by these game companies if they are so prone to delays…..they use them and customs as an excuse with equal regularity…. I am certain that game will come at some point….2016-2017 maybe….

I can't and won't back another KS until I get it…..even though I have wanted to.

Redroom11 Nov 2015 5:54 p.m. PST

I backed it, received the boxed game (no extras) about a month ago iirc to Houston, tx USA
