Another game of Company command using SL/ASL scenarios. This time the game went well balanced and we had a blast. link Cheers, |

Javier, That was awesome! But the damn tankers always leave the infantry behind ;) It sounds like you and your boy had a great game, it looked like a lot of fun, and it sounds like the Squad Leader scenarios are working out as a good source for battles with Company Command. I may have to talk to you more about those. I look forward to more battle reports, and I should have one of mine posted tonight. V/R, Jack |

Thanks Ivan. So far I'm not taking into account the number of turns SL tells you to finish the scenario; actually I wouldn't know how to count turns with your rules ;-) Speaking of your rules, is there a way I can send you a few questions about it, or a place where to discuss it? Thank you Jack. You know, I must have around 300 SL scenarios, the problem is that most of them are made for more than 12 stands per side, although you can tone down and play them anyway. So far I'm just picking those with small contigents and playing as they are; and only Russians vs Germans. There are many of other nations like USA but I don't have minis for them. If you are interested in the scenarios just send me a PM. I'm preparing another one and also look forward for yours. Cheers, |

Javier, 300, eh? That's quite a bit, very interesting. And I agree with you, you should be able to tone down the force numbers for Company Command, and still keep the flavor or the fight. Have you got anything for France 1940 and North Africa (Germans vs Brits, not Italians vs Brits)? I can't wait to see your next one. I just posted one, but I haven't been able to find time to write up the next three… Take care. V/R, Jack |

Jack you're too fast :) I don't have the scenarios classified so I'll have to check them all. I'll look for them and let you know. I remember reading some about France 1940… |

Javier, I appreciate you looking, but please don't worry too much about me, I don't mean to take up any of your time. If it comes down to looking through scenarios or wargaming, please game! ;) And actually, I'm okay for scenarios for France in 1940, it's the North Africa stuff that's being much harder for me to get scenarios for. I have several hundred SL/ASL scenarios as well that I've been converting over to FOW. The trick with the ASL game length conversion is to figure out how many turns it takes for units to cross a game board and adapt that to the speed of your units on your game table. Then you add on the additional turns as "time for the fight." For example, a squad can cross the width of 1 ASL board in 2 turns while it takes 8 in FOW to cross my 4 foot table. This makes for longer games & I often find the forces are chewed up before the games get to be that long, but at least one side is defeated rather than just beaten by the clock. Jack, I have all of my scenarios sorted by theater & year. I know I have a few for North Africa. Message me with your email address and I'll send them along. Bear in mind these are the original SL/ASL scenarios, not the conversions. |

Yeah, ASL tends to assume you are racing for the clock and by the last turn, it's usually 2 half squads fighting off one squad with a 6 / +1 commander struggling to keep them in the line ;-) |

ASL would not transfer over to FOW well at all. This is not a slam on FOW but the crux of gameplay in ASL revolves around denying the phasing player movement through defensive fire (with most units getting the fire multiple times in the opponent's movement phase). This does not come up at all in FOW till units get to close range. |
