Would I be incorrect to paint a German panzer colonel wearing his black panzer uniform with a feldgrau M43 field cap? If not would the piping on the cap be pink or silver? If I should go with the cap in black what color would the piping be? Thanks, Terry |

What's the setting? I mean if he were on the eastern front in 1943 anywhere near the combat zone I believe you could have him outfitted in just about anything. As the war dragged on dress regulations, even in the more rigid German military, became more lax. One of my collecting passions is of original photos of WWII German eastern front soldat. I have many from the 1943-44 time frame that show men and officers in front line units wearing mismatched, oddball combinations of Herr, Luftwaffe, SS, headgear, tunics, overcoats, parkas, cammo, etc. |

Thank you gentlemen. I felt pretty safe painting him that way and feel he will look a little more colorful than have it in black….but want to stay accurate. Silver trim it will be. He is planned for the Eastern front, and although my photos are restricted to several books, I have been studying them for help, but also felt it best to ask teh experts. Thanks again, Terry |
