Drawing inspiration again from Ethanjt21's how to terrain-making posts, I decided to try my hand at making a small bridge using the bag of mini-sticks I bought at Wal-Mart yesterday.
In addition to the wooden bridge, I am also showing off the usefulness of some colored static sand I picked up at Wal-Mart and Micheals. This stuff is great for making rivers and roads from historical maps which would be hard to replicate using commercial terrain. The sand sticks to itself and cleans up easily. It comes in a variety of colors not all of which are useful. I darkened the blue sand with a blue ink. In the bag its a very sky-blue color. Dave |

That sand is a neat idea! (Nice bridge too but I'm lazy and the sand idea has lazy written all over it…) |

The sand idea is genius! Consider it stolen :D |

The Wal-Mart sand is cheaper but its a tad more crumbly than the static sand I bought at Michaels. It may just need to dry out a bit. The sand loses a lot of its static properties when wet or damp. If you darken the blue sand like I did, give it a couple of days to dry completely before trying to use it. Dave |

I used the static sand to build entrenchments and redoubts along with popsicle sticks, wood dowels and toothpicks. Works great. |
