Looking for a painting guide overview for Saladin's forces. I know there where a lot of different groups that made up his army. Anyone have a good reference to start with?

Little in the way of uniform; yellow was a common colour for standards. Have a look at the Ayyubid entries on Druzhina's warfare.altervista.org/Egypt.htm

My very first introduction to the existence of Mamluks was Graham Shelby's "Knights of Dark Renown". Saladin's Mamluks were all robed in yellow. The image I got from that was very cool. I don't know how accurate that is, of course. Nobody does. Probably based on a single source reference of dubious quality, like most medieval sources….
