..to use with 54mm WWI figures from "Armies in Plastic". I was thinking about using Gnome Wars from Brigade Games. The rules need to be simple and fast…cover infantry, cavalry, machine guns and tanks… |

Funny Little Wars are well worth the look. Makes you remember what we are all supposed to be doing, even if we have 'moved on'. From TVAG. |

There are lots of sets around. Try Freewargamesrules.co.uk (early 20th C. category), and miniaturewargaming.com (look for the WWI tag at the bottom of the page). Most WWII rules would work as well, with appropriate adjustments of stats for armor and air support. I have AIP early-war Germans, Highlanders, and British Cavalry, and Emhar early-war British Artillery. German artillery is not necessary, as it was deployed far enough back that it wouldn't appear on the table. British artillery was still deployed near the front line in 1914, however, which was not a healthy arrangement for British artillerymen. I've been looking for affordable early-war HMGs for both sides, but so far no luck. Chris Johnson |
