Fun to paint, but took far longer than I would have liked: real life, and all that.

A great looking army using a limited color palette; I like it.

Thanks for looking. I wanted to see what a different skin tone and limited colours would look like. I've still never seen a full Numidian-type army in 28mm, so it will be interesting to see how they look en masse against the Romans.

Paul, great looking figures!!!!! On my figures I left off the shield patterns and left them plain in different colors. Mike Adams

Good guess, Oldbob! I have a cunning plan that involves Juba's imitation legions…

Hi Mike, I thought about doing that, but then I came across those striking LBMS patterns. They're intended for Carthaginians, but they did the job.

Great looking group Paul – what a 'courageous' army to run with!

I've also been using various VVV transfers, 15mm stars, palm trees, horses and elephants work with Crusader 28mm shields (for both Carthaginians and Pontic legionaries).

Hi Garry, thanks for the 15mm transfer suggestion, I'm always on the look-out for more ideas. I really have enjoyed painting this army, even though I got a bit slow recently – I have a soft spot for all those armies that seem like a sideshow compared to the ones that grab all the headlines, but always seem to last for ages in the historical shadows. These guys will do for Jugurtha, Juba and Tacfarinas, so that's over a century's worth of campaigning. Plus it's a bonus that they give Rome a hard time…

Hi Mike, I managed to get hold of 24 of those – I'd like to see more too.
