Dear Mr Bashy,
Now, those figures are very nice and interesting, as is the whole 3-D process, of which I know nothing. Tell me, in the past I have created some cartoon characters so could they be modelled from a 2-D drawing to create some miniatures?

You can make 2D images into 3D ones but it is a lot of work. If you want to actually try it Blender is free and you can practice with it, also Meshmixer is free and has powerful tools. Both of these have tutorials that users have posted on youtube to show you how you can utilize these programs. I personally prefer Meshmixer. So, bottom line yes you can. As far as the friends thing goes, I was talking about Benito and Mr. mustache, not the fun loving sea who rages no more but not really. One last thing, if you decide to do this make sure you have a strong computer, the math calculations that are required for digital sculpting will make you die of old age waiting on an older system. I would suggest at least 16Gb of RAM and at least a newer video card of 8GB and 6 cores or more. Most high end gaming computers will work. An actual CAD workstation starts at $4,000 USD US.
