Does anyone produce 3/4" – 1" long (0.5" – 1.5"?), or so, spacefighters of the type shown on the cover of the 5th Frontier War boardgame?

Any suggestions for the fighters for the opposition as well?

Mako1118 Jun 2015 12:02 a.m. PST

Of course, I could go with something a little higher-tech too, like these:

Don't recall seeing anything like these in metal, in any scale though.

I especially like the first one, in this second posting.

You could just take a 1/600 (or so) F-104 and clip a few parts off. I'm assuming someone sells those.

Old Silent Death metal miniatures would be pretty much perfect.

Sorry Mako. The IWM I listed are larger than what you are seeking. I will look over my catalogs and see if I can find anything in the 1" range.

I'm wondering if you couldn't repurpose some modern fighter jets but cut down the wings some?

Mako1118 Jun 2015 11:08 a.m. PST

Ooooo, those are some great suggestions, many of which I was not aware of, so thanks for them.

How long are the IWM fighters, Allen57?

My preferred scale has some wiggle room in it, I suspect.

I immediately thought of Silent Death, and some of their minis, though need to refresh myself on their options.

I'd also thought of modifying some moderns too, like perhaps a Harrier, or F-16. Hadn't thought of the F-104, but that is a good one.

Cutting off/leaving off the rudders would give them a different look, and is pretty simple to do.

IIRC the IWM microfighters are about 3/4 inch long. That is a metric ruler in the first picture of my microfighter post.

Silent Death? We have over 100 different ones to choose from, and quite a few would IMHO fit your needs:

Lest we forget, there's always the oldies but goodies from Reviersco, especially the assorted Human ships to peruse:

Something from the Galactic Knights line, perhaps?

They range from 11mm to 20mm long. Details at Super Galactic Dreadnought: link

EDIT: The Comet in particular seems to fit your aesthetic:

If you could find the North America X-15 in a suitable size, it would probably work pretty well.

By the way, the name of the class of fighter pictured on the cover of Fifth Frontier War is Rampart. The Azhanti High Lightning class of frontier cruisers carried a complement of Rampart fighters.

Allen 57's second picture (orange flamer) really gets the look of the Rebellion-Era Rampart.
