Some sci-fi model vehicles are designed to have "windows" or exposed "cockpits," assuming that in the future, there will be transparent armor to protect these areas.

Of course, you can paint them as non-transparent, too.

If you had such models, how would you paint them?

* paint windows and cockpits
* paint them as non-transparent
(etc.)

Well, they do have those nice, transparent aluminum panels now.

I'd probably paint them like normal cockpit windows though, e.g. dark gray, with a gloss coat over that.

For glass/crystal weapons I've done a light blue up to white, and dream about doing something like that for vehicles but with darker areas to simulate where someone would be sitting or something like that.
