I know I know…. everyone hates the idea of a new board. But why don't we have a today in history board. People from all over could post historical events that took place in their corner of the world. On June 6th there were several posts about the D-Day invasion. But what about the smaller affairs and engagements from around the world that the rest of us don't know about. |

It would spur historical discussion, yes, go for it. |

Sounds good to me. It would be a good spot to discuss the daily banners. |

There are tons of resources for this already on the interwebs. How about an "official" What Military History Anniversary Are You Commemorating For {NEXT MONTH}? thread in WIG each month? The originator (volunteer? elected? impressed?) can post a summary of the TiH stuff from the last month, or maybe someone could pull together an RSS feed to link to … |

These are the two I use … link link I prefer historynet.com as it is a less "modern" website, which means it is easier to copy and paste from (pastes straight into a spreadsheet for collation and sorting) and also loads faster (no bandwidth and processor hog active content). |

I think it would have to be limited to "This Day in Military History" or we will get buried in historical and sociological trivia galore. While the first commercial toothpaste product released or the oldest Bushman in history dies might be fascinating topics to learn about, I fear a blizzard of posts might make sorting out the military related ones difficult. Cheers and good gaming. Rod Robertson. |
