if there was one, where was it stationed?and where can i get info on it's battle history ?

The 173rd regiment was part of the 81st division. The 81st was in the home islands in 1945. All I got so far.

thank you for looking. the reason is I might have a sword but not sure????there is some marking's that has 173 on it in a couple place's and i was just wondering if it was the regiment?picked it up at a yard sale,grandson said his dad was in the military and fought japan? might just be a story but it would be nice if it was true?
