I've just painted up some 15mm Napoleonic Ultramarines. Nope, not Space Marines, but Venetian Oltramarina Schiavoni, who were Albanian troops that fought for Venice against the French.

These are Essex miniatures and really small compared to my other figures. Can you recommend a better range that will match my AB?

More pictures, and comparison photos with other brands, on my blog at link

Thanks for looking,
Colin

You could try these:

Not ideal but close. They are "VXN009 Nizam i Cedit, marching" from my 18 mm Napoleonic Ottomans. Skirmishing and command packs also available.

Have you thought of using SYW Russian Pandours? The hats are a little tall but it should be easy enough to trim them down a bit.

These ones are by Minifigs, which I think are a bit bigger than Essex, though maybe not as tall as AB:

Those pandours look good. I see Blue Moon has those listed but not yet available.

Has anyone seen the Old Glory Austrian Pandours from their SYW range?

These may do….

What do you think?

I think they would work. Again you'd have to trim the height of the headgear a bit.

If you already use Blue Moon it might be worth dropping them a line to ask when they will be releasing their figures.

I should probably try and concentrate on the three 12-figure Austrian cavalry units I have sitting, and the seven battalions of French infantry, plus all the Austrian artillery, and the three Piedmontese battalions…

But new units are always so tempting.

Have you looked at AB's Seressaner in the Revolutionary Austrian line? Very Balkan irregular.

I had a look at those with this unit in mind, and although they would be fine for some irregulars that fought for Venice, they don't really work as the Oltramarina Schiavoni.

very intersting units, did you look at AB Albanians?

Got some Old Glory figures that are better for these. I've used their Seven Years War "Russian Light Infantry Skirmishing" with converted headgear…
