Fred Pohl.
Gordon R Dickson.

Now start a poll about who was the biggest jerk. That would be Jerry Pournelle.

M. A. R. Barker, though both Gordon Dickson and Poul Anderson would be high up the list. Mike Stackpole is pretty nice, too.

David Brin. Have always been disappointed that he does not write more novels.

David Walton is a new writer who has a few books out. I have worked with him for a number of years. I have seen him even on his bad days and he is still one of the nicest people I know (and he has like 7 kids and he is still sane). I will give him a major thumbs up.

I met him at WorldCon in New Orleans in 1988. Very nice guy.

Margaret Weiss. Though, she's a friend, so I would have to say that.

The worst was Harlan Ellison. He prides himself on being a vile person, though.

Terry Prachett

Even if he did chat up my wife.

Wendy and Richard Pini were wonderful to my girlfriend and I at the San Diego Comic-Con back in 1988 or 1989… Phil Foglio was a huge disappointment at the same Con…

Graham Masterton has been a friend for a couple of years. His stories of Ginsberg and Burroughs, plus his reminisces of being editor of "Penthouse" are worthy of legend. I've urged him and urged him to write a biography, but he refuses to even take a nudge in that direction.

I talked to Gavin Thorpe at a Danish convention and he was a super nice bloke.
I've talked to Keith Baker and Joe Haldeman online and they're both fantastic people.

COL Scott ret15 Jun 2015 11:24 p.m. PST

Joe Halderman met him several decades ago at a world SF con and he was pleasant and fun to talk to.

Robert Lynn Asprin not a serious bone in his body as his books might imply.

Lester Del Rey, Frank Herbert, Frank Kelly Freas, John F. Carr, Joe Haldeman, Poul Anderson.

Oddly enough, Harlan Ellison was a sweetheart of a guy when he used to come into my bookstore in Studio City; everywhere else he seemed to be on Mr. Hyde Juice.
