The game had a lot of interest initially, which died off after awhile due to a lot of factors. In no particular order:
1) The resin miniatures fiasco.
2) The rushed rulebook release with tons of errata, typos, poorly edited, with grossly inadequate play testing (this is mainly Mongoose's fault because they rushed the game for a Xmas release and it was not ready).
3) Problems with miniatures availability, eventually culminating with ADB taking over miniatures production via a contractor that they use for their other minis.
There were other issues, but those come to mind most readily. You could go and read what is on the Mongoose A Call to Arms forum, if you want to. Dig back to near the beginning, say page 30 and newer.
Many people didn't want to get involved with another Mongoose fiasco. I failed to heed the warnings, and turned into a fanboy of the game, ran many demo and convention games, etc. Got burned by Mongoose like many others, don't have a lot of interest in the game anymore.
The rules appear to be greatly cleaned up, work better apparently, but I have moved on, as have many other folk.
