I thought I'd make my product reviews a bit more consistent in format. I'm giving the following format a test-run and appreciate constructive comments. Kevin

Item: Douglas TBD-1 Devastator, kit: R15-0115
Scale: 1/100
Medium: Resin
Manufacturer: Armaments in Miniature, LLC (AIM) armamentsinminiature.com
Vendor: AIM
Price: $15 USD

General Impressions: Nice kit with parts to arm the model with either a torpedo or bombs. The main component of the kit is the single-piece airframe. To that you can add antenna, gunsight, tail wheel, arresting hook, and the ordnance. The kit required very little in the way of clean up and prep. Seam lines were minimal and there were no air pockets. I assembled and painted these Devastators to represent those of Torpedo 8, at the Battle of Midway.

Pros: Parts provided for different versions. Clean casting.

Cons: The resin antenna and gunsight are delicate and likely to break off turning game play.

Recommendations: I recommend the kit for all skill levels.

Notes: I used Vallejo Model Color paints. I used Eagle Strike and Miscellaneous Miniatures decals. I replaced the resin gunsight and antenna with thin wire. I secured the torpedo to the airframe and then drilled a hole through the torpedo and into the fuselage to create a mounting point.

Beautiful. AIM makes nice models, and you do a really good job painting them. I really like your gray canopy technique, but then, you knew that. :-)

Great work! The Devastator is one of my favorite planes from WW2 (even if it wasn't a very good one for its time).

Thanks!
