What's with this new Colonel Sanders on TV? No gravitas, no Southern charm, no melodious pronunciation.

Were'd they get this new guy?

The Burger King has more personality. Annie, the Popeye's Louisiana Chicken spokesperson, has more charm.

Am I being unkind?

No, not unkind. I think his voice is highly annoying and has no "Southerness" to it at all.

Cyrus the Great07 Jun 2015 6:01 p.m. PST

Creepy, predator vibe!

cosmicbank07 Jun 2015 6:07 p.m. PST

Nope you hit the nail on the head. Dry, unfunny, reminds me of a bad Yankee comic. He needs to be deported back to Boston.

Moe Ronn07 Jun 2015 6:16 p.m. PST

Florida. Darrell Hammond is from Florida.

Zeelow07 Jun 2015 6:20 p.m. PST

I miss the real colonel.

Greylegion07 Jun 2015 6:25 p.m. PST

Who the hell is Darrell Hammond?!?!?!?!?

That buffoon is a total disgrace to the South and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

doug redshirt07 Jun 2015 7:12 p.m. PST

Creepy.

The fact that you are all talking about it ,bad or good ,the ad works,do you remember their other adds? The last one I remember is the jingle way in the day written by Barry Manilow ,get a Bucket of Chicken, finger Lickin good, have a Barrel of fun, good bye Ho Hum!!!!!!!!!

Usually efforts to offend nobody ends up offending everybody. Look what they did to all the other food icons!

Dynaman878908 Jun 2015 6:30 a.m. PST

No the ad did not work, I have no desire to buy KFC after watching it – quite the opposite in fact

Rrobbyrobot08 Jun 2015 7:14 a.m. PST

Don't see much on TV except stuff I have on tape, or DVD. So any new commercials don't have any affect on me. But, though I once enjoyed KFC's chicken, I find that Bojangle's is so much better that I no longer care just what KFC might do…

Having seen the real Colonel, I cannot figure if the "new" one is suppose to be a bit of off center satire that appeals to the younger generation or just a bad actor choice along the vein of "New Coke". He's a turn off for me.

Mako1108 Jun 2015 9:42 a.m. PST

I'm severely underwhelmed.

tberry740308 Jun 2015 12:36 p.m. PST

Evidently they can call it Kentucky Fried Chicken again.

Leadjunky08 Jun 2015 3:21 p.m. PST

It's better than the hip hop dancing cartoon version,

dBerczerk08 Jun 2015 3:42 p.m. PST

A hip hop dancing cartoon version of the Colonel?

Oh, the Horror!

Amongst MANY other "careers", Mr. Sanders was a US Army enlistee (at 16 years old!). What I find disturbing about "this" ad campaign is the attempt to portray him as some smarmy oldster in a white suit. From the accounts I've read, he WAS a tightwad, but practical man who helped raise his younger siblings after his father had passed. Although he sold the business in the mid-sixties to a corporation in the '60s, he remained on as a "spokesperson" until his death. Despite being "flawed" (as some of us are), he accomplished much (not "realizing" *success* until well after his retirement) with his hard work, product AND personal skills.

Kinda sad to see him reduced to comic figure with a George W. Bush "twang" of a voice.

Here in the UK, I imagine many kids think 'KFC' is an abbreviation for a football club!

Supercilius Maximus14 Jun 2015 9:49 a.m. PST

I wonder if the fact that he looks like Rolf Harris has prompted this change?

Coelacanth193816 Jun 2015 2:15 a.m. PST

I bumped into him a few times while he was opening up restaurants in SoCal. Darn nice man. If you can, catch his autobiography on TV. If anything, he proved that you are never too old to be successful.

creepy! the real Col Sanders must be rolling over in his grave. Family should sue…or at least beat that man severely about the head, neck and cranial region with the Col.'s cane!
total disgrace!
