I know there once was a rulesset out called Ancient Empire. There were even a few supplements. Did anyone here actually played that game? And how does it play? Unit size? I must admit, being intrigued by the game, but never played it myself. |

I believe there were 2 supplements, one a about Ceasar and the Gallic wars, the other about Alexander. Long time since we played the rules in our club, but as far as I still remember they handled the Roman manipular formation very well. |

I use to play it along time ago, found we found allot of errors misprints and stuff in the rules and no-way at the time of getting it corrected so we quit playing and moved on to other systems. It was quite complex and took forever to play but that's about all I can remember about it. |

Bought it and tried to play a few games – rebasing figures and painting up a manipular legion. My impression was that it was a bit underdeveloped. A lot of number crunching and time consuming – but it basically did little more than DBM which was on the rise at the same time. |
