I made an interesting find on Pathe News this morning – Winston Churchill visiting command manouevres at Aldershot (Tidworth) 1927 – which suggests this is the Experimental Mechanised Force. Good footage of Vickers Medium Mk IIs, Carden Lloyds and Rolls Royce armoured cars (1920 pattern, I think) at halt, then also Birch guns, a Burford Kegresse infantry halftack, and Medium Mk IIs on the move. The IWM dates this clip to 1926 but Pathe to 1927, which makes more sense.

It may be that this is a well known film, but i have b=never seen it before.

I have posted it on the VIntage Warganing blog here:

If I remember correctly virtually all the old Pathe News are freely available on the I nternet – which means there must be a lot of undiscoverd gems like this out there.

Very nice. Note the "one tank on the bridge at a time" spacing.

The tank tracks look very "shiny". Not something you see
on wargames models, they would tend to make them look toy like
