There are several favorites of mine, but if I had to pick one, it always comes back to the one captioned "The Prince and the Pauper"

How about you? What's your favorite Willie and Joe comic?

Great thread

First let's remember that Bill Maudlin was only25 and a young looking one at that

My favorite cartoon was drawn after Bill was fined by an MP in Third Army for not wearing a helmet showing anyone was a target

I always liked the one with the G.I. shooting his jeep because it had broken axel.

Wasn't the caption on the 3rd army one above something like "Tell the old man we're gonna be late onna count of a thousand mile detour."

That was another of my favorites. They all are quite good. Some are a bit hard to wrap your head around.

It is too hard to pick just one. Having been in the Army, many of them were just as good for today. Always enjoyed his stuff. The G.I. shooting his jeep was up there though!

My favorites are these:

"Able Fox Five to Able Fox. I got a target but ya gotta be patient."

"Th' hell this ain't th' most important hole in the world. I'm in it."

I like the one with the Army air corps colonel – who looks about 12 says hi to uncle Willie -- at least 20 years older and still a private

Forager,

Your first one (with the Stug) is my fave too…

Wackmole904 Jun 2015 7:38 p.m. PST

foxhole one is my favorite

Winston Smith04 Jun 2015 10:17 p.m. PST

Telling the Colonel "Sir, could you please go inspire someone else?" as the shells fall around them.

I remember one where a couple of P-51s are chasing a Messerschidt jet, which is barely more than a distant dot. The caption was something "Able Fox Five to Able Fox. We're cutting him off in the turns."

Something similar--the pilot of a P-38 shouts "What the hell was that?" as a Komet shots up between the two fusilages.

The one with Willie and Joe behind the smoking machine gun – "I could sworn there was a Kraut behind that cow! Call the cook."

The 45th Infantry Museum (Thunderbirds) in Oklahoma City, OK, has a collection of over 200 original Willie and Joe cartoons. This museum is well worth a stop if you are in the OKC area.

My favorite is the where Willie says, "I can't get any lower, Joe. Me buttons is in the way!"

Any sign of partisan activity? Germans stooping and cowering around battalion HQ staff in the street…… Love that…..
