"Russia's brand new Kamaz Typhoon-K 6x6 MRAP armored vehicles will undergo final operational service tests in 2015, the director of the department of digital design systems of OJSC KAMAZ told RIA Novosti. Russia's Ministry of Defense will decide on the mass production of Typhoons following the trials, Aleksey Purtov added. The Typhoon is a multifunctional, armored, mine-resistant vehicle family, designed and produced by many Russian defence companies since 2010, including KAMAZ. This vehicle was made under the 2020 concept for the development of military vehicles and first unveiled in late 2013. The Typhoon-K can be configured in reconnaissance, surveillance, command and staff, engineer reconnaissance, medical evacuation, nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) reconnaissance and surveillance, fire support, special attack and armed escort missions. Seems redundant given Russia's long standing use of wheeled APCs/IFVs, and the introduction of the new Bumerang design. It is built using integrated ceramic armour for all-round protection against 14.5mm bullets, B-32 armour-piercing shells and high-explosive armour-piercing incendiary bullets. I don't think that's gonna stop an RPG/LAW. |

Differing RPG 7 warheads penetrate between 10"-27" of armor. That does not carry 10" of rolled homogenous armor. |
