Recently I got my copy of the Star Wars Armada starter set and a few other ships and still waiting on some coming in so yesterday my friends and I decided to try one or two Armada games.

So yesterday the 3 of us got together and decided to play so for our first game I sat out and mainly watched while my 2 friends took part.

The first game they did was the introduction game where the Rebels had 1-Nebulon B-Frigate and 1-Corellian Corvette and 4 squadrons of X-Wings vs 1-Victory class Star Destroyer and 6 Squadrons of Tie Fighters.

So after putting the ship stand together and punching out the tokens and such they got to it.

Things were slow at first not knowing their way around the rules, and they might've gotten some things wrong but they pressed on.

The Rebel ships took some damage as did the Victory and by the 6th turn the Rebels had lost 5-Tie Fighter Squadrons and the Victory suffered half damage while the Rebels lost one X-Wing Squadron.

So that's how our game ended my guess was that is was a Rebel win but it could've been a draw so what do you think?

We set up to do another game which I was going to take part in but a personnel matter and I did not play but I did like what I saw during the game.

However I do intend to play my first very soon and with more people and more ships.

I intend to continue to get more ships and fighters in increase my numbers.

The thing keeping me away is that I have to pay the full one hundred and such dollars up front and, as far as I'm aware, there's no way to purchase things in steps to avoid wallet shock and the inevitability of an angry wife.

If you scroll down the topics in the spaceship gaming board, you'll find:

It will outline some of the rules conundrums, but more importantly, comments from other TMP members answered the questions we had.

Balthazar Marduk I was lucky and found a copy on EBAY for about $67.00 USD or so and I got Free shipping as well so it worked out.

So if you that route then maybe the angry wife won't be so angry.

Thanks Russ I briefly checked that out and will go back to it.

That's funny, Captain Gideon, my first game was almost the exact opposite – the Corvette was destroyed along with 3 out of 4 X-Wing squadrons, while the Empire had lost 2 squadrons of TIE fighters and my Star Destroyer hadn't even had the paintwork scratched (although it was almost out of shields on all facings at one point lol).

Pretty much everybody seems to be getting important rules wrong on their first playing (and often second and third …). If the game seems unbalanced either way, you probably need to go to FFGs forums and to BGG and read as many rules threads as you can stomach. There are some surprises …

Yes, what he said. A minor re-reading of a rule can have major implications.
