Yeah, no they're not! If those are open shelves, what a pain to dust.

I used to use a typeset tray for my own minis, and ran into that exact problem- what a huge effort to dust! They do look awesome, though.

I live in Southern California. A nice 5.5 earthquake an all those troops are on the floor. No thanks.

Makes me think that portable storage boxes could go vertical rather than horizontal. don't know if this would be any more practical…

Dust !

Pretty to look at but, frankly, this is one of the worst storage methods.

No thanks….too easy to fall….too hard to dust….

My wife got me a display case a while back….

Here's one of the shelves with some of my pulp figures….

Protected and enclosed in glass….

Oh and there's more figures now than what is shown in that pic….

"… what a pain to dust."

Nothing a gas-powered leaf blower can't handle.

Dark Fable29 May 2015 11:24 p.m. PST

Looks really cool though, I suppose if you use the figures a lot you can keep dusting down . . .

Maybe he has some maids to do the job? (smile)

I stack foam trays on regular book shelves. No dust, no paint fading sun. But I have to hunt for everything.

I use some of those exact shadow boxes for my most used minis. Since they're on and off the shelves so much dust isn't a problem.

I game in smallish scales and I have found the Plastic Craft Organizer to be my best solution at almost every turn. They only cost $1 USD-2 apiece, have around 15-18 individual compartments and each compartment has room for a stand of troops. The clear sides and top allow for easy identification even when stacked on a shelf, but I am anal and label stuff as well. Will need to find an alternate solution for storing my Warband Fantasy armies as the bases are much bigger!
