This literally leaves me drooling! I'm with you….. particularly with the British and Dutch. If [when] the wife finds out, I'm done for! |

I was thinking exactly the same as Ligniere… But I really want those Dutch troops. I like the Danish as well but then they were only involved in secondary theatres so I might give thema miss (with pain in the heart) for my wallets' sake. |

Tinsoldaten ran a Bornhöved demo game at Tactica this year at which the Twins were guests of honour. I wonder if the massed Danish ranks in red spiked some interest. Either way, I'm very happy to have the chance to put together a small force of Danes in due course |
Garde de Paris | 31 May 2015 9:49 a.m. PST |
Many years ago, I did 20 Willie 30mm Scots infantry as the 79th Cameron Highlanders. They had a right arm that looked great angled backward to counter balance the right leg forward. A really jaunty appearance. I then angled the left arm to hold the musket at the lock, in left arm, to the side, as the French did. My "buds" found this hilarious – marching British style – until I convinced them the Scots were approaching the French from a flank, hoping the feather bonnets would look like French grenadier bearskins before the 79th launched an attack against them. Seriously, the 79th should have been carrying their muskets as shown here by the Perrys – hand under the buttplate. Right arm close to the body, not swinging. But shouldn't the Dutch grenadiers be carrying as the French, crook of the left arm? Is this a mistake? GdeP |

Excellent point, GdP, and one that passed my notice. As you no doubt know, Perry frenchies c.1815 have the musket in the crook of the arm, as do their newer c.1805-9 sculpts. This plate from the Suhr brothers' Hamburg series shows them as the Perry's have sculpted, ie musket in hand,
However, some other figuers in the series have the musket in the crook of the arm,

"But shouldn't the Dutch grenadiers be carrying as the French, crook of the left arm? Is this a mistake?" No it isn't They are two different ways to carry arms – both are possible and therefore right. |

Really excited that Alan P. has committed to a dedicated Spanish Peninsula Range. The Brits shown are perfect and will by far be the best product on the market once released. I hope the grenadier & light companies are slightly different from the centre company shown… Also dying to see the command sets. Would have liked to have seen the lights skirmishing to have had fixed bayonets… oh well, will still get them. Really hope to see Portuguese & Spanish in the future. Regardless, thanks PM for these beautiful additions. |

do I see pointed gaiters on those Grenadiers of the Guard? Are they light infantry of the Guard then? |
Ligniere | 01 Jun 2015 4:51 a.m. PST |
Vw They're Kingdom of Holland line grenadiers |

Like von W I thought the Perry figures were equally suitable for 3rd Grenadiers of the Guard (Ex Hollandais) 1812ish Janner's pictures indeed seem to be line Grenadiers. The Guards had a bearskin like the Guard Chasseurs, no plate, but in their case, with a crown patch and the single tassel. These pictured have the grenade plate but the gaiters are odd. I suspect artistic licence. Are the Perry figures suitable for 3rd Dutch Guard? |
janner | 01 Jun 2015 7:33 a.m. PST |
Yes, he's a line grenadier. The first picture shows members of the voltigeur company of 8th Infantry and the second a grenadier, a corporal, and a voltigeur of 9th Infantry Regiment. More here: link |

yes silly me, Alan Perry would have sculpted the laces on the lapels and cuffs |
deadhead | 01 Jun 2015 9:42 a.m. PST |
Lace? Every picture I can find of 3rd Grenadiers of the Guard shows them with the same cuff style as the 1st and 2nd Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard. No lace………lapels or cuffs. If so, these sound perfect for Dutch 3rd Grenadiers of Imperial Guard. Not sure about rear view of Bearskin and equipment of course. To be clear, all my comments relate to the Perry figures, not the contemporary pictures |
