Interesting… I have painted most of the buff coats in my army very tawny but a few in that colour.

Could it have faded? Yellowy-browns are often subject to that.

I've been painting mine with a GW bright yellow colour & then washing with Vallejo sepia. The result is muted but a much stronger colour than Fairfax's coat.

Just re read the article and found it interesting that the coat was dated to pre 1640, due to style changes after that time.
