This Friday I am headed to FOG Con in Pekin, IL (just outside of Peoria). I'll be running several play test games, with a new army, the Sha'Greth Border Security vs. the Colonial Defense Forces. I'm pretty comfortable with the core rules as written, but I hope these play tests will turn up one or two interesting tidbits. This will be a battle featuring advanced troopers and vehicles on both sides – should be interesting.

After the CON I'll edit the current draft with feedback from the games and make the draft available as a free download on the FlagshipGames.com shop. Look for it on Monday morning!

P.S. I've also added a board for the rules on the Flagship Games forum…

Is this a stand up fight or a bug hunt?

Rules allow for both. I have a rough draft of a "bug" army list as well as a rough draft for "facehuggers."

I just need to know one thing… where-they-are!

I'll certainly checking out the rules when they're available.

Sounds good.

I just happen to have a squad, or two of appropriate troops, plus some opposition for them.

I've been thinking that a mini-campaign, or full on campaign with a unit like them would be rather fun to play. A different drop every week, or month, on distant planets, far from home.

Will do. I use unit data cards (esp. handy at Cons) for each platoon. Here is an example:

picture

You see a picture, name, special rules (if any) then hit tracker. The dark lines on teh hit tracker tell you when you need to check morale (they vary for different platoons of course). These guys don't check "command" they're too primitive for that. The save is againt being hit (so it's a roll to hit roll to save system).

The bottom 4 icons give Command Radii (Platoon/Squad), Movement Rate (Base + Dice), Melee Value, Communications Bonus (if applicable).

Many rosters also track ammo for "special" weapons – RPGs, Flamethrowers etc.

In the Blartship Bloopers game ammo is tracked and you have to call for resupply. Timing your resupply is key to the drama for the troopers. And there are two versions of the game, one in which the bugs are run by the game, the other in which a player runs them (requires a Brainiac Bug).

The rules will be in the "store" and I'll publish army lists on the forum.
