Ran into a good deal recently for a few armies. I know the first two are classical armies of some sort, but the last one (also not based for DBA) stumps me. I have no idea what the last one is based for, with mostly 2 or 3 infantry to a stand, mostly 2 or single horse cavalry stands. Thanks for the help! link |

If you are intending to use them for DBA, then a number of troop types will need re-basing; elephant(s), pike, light horse. Most of these seem to have 30 mm frontage which is small for DBA use. The army may be Alexandrian Imperial to any of the early Successor. I believe the seller intended to morph the collection into as many possible pike armies. Photo 14 shows 26 bases, but the majority of pike would need to change from three figures to four per base. Cheers, Robert |

I was able to view the pics once, but for some reason I can no longer see them. They look like Alexandrian Greeks and Thracians (the guys with the crescent looking shield). |

Pictures are a bit fuzzy, but I think I have some of those figures… And yes they are Macedonians suitable for Alexander through Successor armies.. Also some Thracians as mentioned above. |

Assuming these are 15mm figures, for DBA they need to be rebased on stands 40mm wide. |

Thanks guys! Yes I am going to rebase them for sure if I keep them. I have no other historical force to pair them to and they're noticeably smaller than my other 15mm figs. May not be a big issue though. |

I had trouble focusing on the figs but agree from what I could see that they are pikes, psiloi, and some kind of mounted. You seem to have enough for a couple of DBA classic pike armies so fight each other. Note that prior to maybe WRG Ancients 5 or 6th edition, figures were mounted on smaller bases and 30mm wide was the max -- 2 light, 3 medium, 4 heavy. There were figures mounted in smaller numbers, even singles, to make change as casualties were taken in figures, not elements. |
